Seriously if even alumni’s kids need to ballot, the school should seriously consider increasing the intake by one class, enough ground to justify to MOE

        LKVM:

tankee you shouldnt forget CHS it was almost balloting at 2A2... :stupid: and in the end just 18 seats remained which is quite low
true but CHS has only 210 vacancies to start with. 18/210 = 8.6% balanced

NYPS has 390 vacancies. And 8.6% of 390 is 33 places.

i am going to send my child to primary school in 4 years time, but i feel i have to start reading up and knowing more about this education system. wat a rat race!!!!! Personally i am really not impressed.

Anyway, wish to get advice. My husband is from NYPS. So does that mean my daughter will automatically get a place in the school? I called up the school and they said MOST LIKELY i'll get a place for her in the school. And the school admin was suggesting my husband may wish joining the alumni to get a higher priority which cost $1000 for lifetime!!!
$1000 is small amount, compared to what i ever heard fr a fren who wanna to transfer school.......
a all girls' school, can get in for $XX XXX donation..... :!:
any1 ever heard of such thingy.......how much truth in it ???

confirm this happened. My neighbour’s friend wanted to send the daughter to this school. Bought an appt w/in 1km cost more than $1m, then still couldn’t get in cos it’s full by time reach their phase. Then they were told to donate $100K and the girl got a place. :!:

if buy one property and sell one, the stamp duty for buying and the sale commission, plus renovation cost, easily adds up to more than S$100k already

so, to donate S$100k is easier and still cheaper.

where is the lobang ? please

4 years is a long time, bcos MOE changes rules & regulations every now and then. But if your hubby is a former student of NYPS, your daughter will qualify under Phase 2A2, which until now is a 99% guarantee. As for alumni, it costs $1000 and a one-off. From what I heard, there are frequent meetings for alumni members, which is the reason why hubby's colleague didn't want to join as he has to go overseas often.
