Hi CookiesMonster,Hi Emelyn,
I decided to be a SAHM instead.
Many parents choose to send their kids to Kebun Baru CC. There are alot of St Nick gers over there.
Thanks so much for the info on P1 schedule and work! It’s definitely helpful in terms of managing my expectation.
It’s heartening to know that you decided to stay home for the sake of the kids. It is a bold step to take as there are many factors to consider – future employability, the effectiveness of it etc. I may be taking the same route as you – depending on how the situation turns out to be in time to come….hehe! Although I do not foresee myself having a problem being a SAHM devoting time to nurture my girls, I can’t help it but to think of our employability after the girls become independent (say sec sch). Anyway, I have told myself to stop worrying abt it cuz no one knows the future. Important thing is to make the best out of this moment.
Do you stay near St. Nicks?
I fondly remembered my St. Nicks days where the sch was indeed my 2nd home. In fact, majority of my close friends were from there and we are still in close contact and also organize gatherings. Is the sch still like before in terms of fostering caring relationships amongst fellow schoolmates and creating a nurturing environment for the girls? Or things have changed vastly…haha?
Hi Emelyn,
Have you done a mock drive from your place to St. Nicks during normal sch day/hr before? I did it few months back and it takes me around 20-25 mins drive if I leave my place at 6.40am. Not sure if it is representative but it’s not as bad as many discouraging relatives warned me.
Hi ImMeeMee,
St. Nicks pri is temp housed at the former Kerbun Bahru Pri opp the old St. Nicks. It’s just a small street across the old campus.
BTW St. Nicks mummies, do you know that there were Facebook groups set up for the different graduating years? -
Dinah:
Yup, staying near St. Nicks. Though the temp site is abt 15mins walk. The camaderie is still there with the Kiasu-ness being bumped up the chart by afew notches.

And as usual, material position comparison is also common even at Primary level.
If you are driving yr DD to school, do check out alternatives routes cos there is another sch in a temp holdg site along Ave 3 so traffic tends to be a little heavy in the morning. -
CookiesMonster:
Why, har? My daughter already in sec 4 in sngs. Got extra kiasu-ness, har?

Are you referring to material possession? My daughter has never had problems with that.
We always approach the school from the Ave 5 end of Ave 2 (last time). Now, so sian, have to go all the way to Toa Payoh, even tho' we stay just round the corner. -

That's why i said \"got extra kiasu-ness\". Extra to what? St nics parents v ks or st nics p1 girls v ks? i don't remember either. The years of my dd going thru from p1 to p4 v smooth - until p5 when everything suddenly became extra difficult and her grades dropped like freefall. ;9 -
eh ok, c where r u cmg fm.
well, i got to know some parents who hv gers now in p1 n p2. they commented that last yr, p1 didn’t hv homewk but this yr somehow everything change.
even during orientation, we asked & was told that most of the time, work will be confined to during sch hrs.
i’m nt complaining but sometimes all those little pieces of work fm different subject teachers can add up to alot esp given on the same day. -

In case you are not aware, St Nick Alumni is starting the 2010 P1 pre-registration verification exercise. For those who are eligible and wish to enrol your duaghters under Phase 2A1, you should have recieved emails from the alumni association. -
