Based on my personal experience, I have to warn that past history is only as good as reference but do not bet on it. It was more than 10 years ago and I still remember vividly....

wow...ten years ago and SCGS almost had a balloting issue at less than 1km!

i know phase 2b is not on a first come first served basis but went early to get things done asap.

i was just about to take my seat next to a parent in the room when i overheard the staff telling him to reconsider his decision to register at the school because he is living outside 2km. he left a minute or so later (unsure if he has completed his registration).

so there i was filling up the forms when i nearly fell off the chair upon hearing the very 1st question askedby another parent which was how to withdraw the child from the school after registering him at this school.

i was like :? but i guess some parents are unsure of the chances of getting into this school so trying to gauge their chances between 2 schools.

anyway, the whole thing took less than 10 minutes but was keeping an eye on the no of registration on tv. 3.45 - 4.15pm was the one of the worst time in my life but thankfully got a place in the school.

          Hi LOLMum,
I'm also registering my boi for P1 this year.

Do u mean that the teletext page shows the # of registrations in \"real-time\"? :? I had the impression that it's updated after registration closes for the day, just like the updates on MOE web.

            I registered in Ph2b too.

Applied leave on Fri afternoon, last day of Ph2b application. Reason was...to have a better gauge of statistics & can go off for an early wkend. Has got all the documents ready since Ph1 started.

On Thurs afternoon, received called from school reminding me to register for Ph2b on Fri which is the last day of registration. Managed to ask the stats, 35 applications for 34 places, 21 within 1km. I'm within 1km.

On Fri, was super excited. Thot of changing my leave to morning cos I somehow have this paranoia of what-ifs...what if there's a traffic jam, what if this what if that & I missed the 430pm deadline...jialat. Lucky husband had his feet grounded...register at 2.30pm he insisted :stupid:

Made our way to the sch at 2.30pm. Saw the notice for Ph2b registration at a venue in the sch...went there, empty, no one there. Went to general office, hahah just need to fill up form in General Office. No big board on statistics updates. Bulk of registration done on 1st day.

Fill up form, submit doc for checking. All done under 15min. BUT most impt was when the sch clerk pass us the balloting date slip, she added 'Most probably no problem for you cos within 1km, can call us after registration close today to check or wait for our website update' 😉

At 5pm, tried to call the sch but cld nt get thru. Tried again 15min later & wonderful news .... NO BALLOT WITHIN 1KM. :celebrate:

it is usually updated after 8.30pm so calling the school is the only way to do so unless one park herself in the school office on the last day of registration at the last hour (which some parents do so that one could withdraw and the other could register at 2 different schools at nearly the same time).

on the last day of registration, i called the school once in the morning, once at noon and twice between 3.30-4.30 (very kaisu haha).

              good luck to you

We planned ahead and moved to Bishan-Shunfu area when ds was only 2+. We were 1km from CatHi AND Ai Tong… good planning right? NOT. We were in the vicinity of 2 of the most highly sought after schools in Singapore’s most densely populated district. I tot I had a good chance at CHS since we could register at Phase 2B and <1km. Everyone we knew said we stood a high chance. How were we to know 2010 would be a freak year? 9 seats were left and 48 people <1km registered to ballot. Like many Catholic Bishan moms, I refused to take the risk and decided to try Maris Stella instead. The admin person at MSH was really nice and even advised that they don’t usually have balloting at P2B. Lo and behold, it was also a freak year at MSH where they had a ballot at P2B for the first time! Though it was only over subscribed by 7 pax, all of us still didn’t want to be the 7 who don’t get a place…

The Balloting was held in the AVA room on the 3rd floor… I climbed the stairs till I panted. It was full house by the time it started. Citizens all had 2 ballot slips while the 5 PRs had just one each. The slips were all projected for all to witness and thrown into the bowl. Children were then asked to come up to pick 10 slips each. My son’s slip was chosen by an IJ gal. I kept saying the Memorare to Our Lady and we asked the Holy Spirit to guide the gal’s hand. We let out a huge sigh of relief when my ds’ name was called. Praise the Lord. We are thankful that this is HIS will.

The supposed CHS boy will now be a Marist boy. Perhaps it is God’s will to place him at MSH since MSH is a badminton powerhouse. I always felt it a waste of ds’ badminton talents if he went into CHS which didn’t have the sport as a CCA.

CHS at 2B this year is really scary! I have a DS as well and live within 1km of MSH but i am about to move out to ensure a place for DD's registration next year.

MSH is a nice place...near MRT too!
