Heard older days, tiger year is less popular for having kids.

You are dead right! My BASC centre has only two kids from P5! :x But I have 16 kids from P3!!! There are the Dragon kids!!! Many parents every year beg me to squeeze in one more kid of theirs. How to :? We actually want to strike a ratio of 1 teacher to 12 kids or the most 14 kids if the demand is too great.

What is my point :? Never have a dragon baby! He or she would be fighting for a good school in Primary One, Sec One, JC1 and even University for the best courses to be doctors or lawyers. You parents will be always kancheong like crazy at every milestone of your child's choice of school. :?: :?: :?:

I think we can't base on birth rates anymore as there are so many PRs around us nowadays!!!

There are many PRs now, and some have converted to S’pore Citizens. For those who stay as PRs, the govt has introduced the 2 balloting slips to give us a better chance should balloting occur but if PRs convert to SC, then afraid to say we have to compete with them.

The sch places drop by abt 5000 as compared to Year 2008? I assume cos' some schs had converted to single session? Imagine 2016 when ALL schs are converted to single session...
And birth rate for 2013 onwards keeps going up...
And more parents are better-informed in opting for \"popular\" schs... although there's always plenty places for \"less popular\" schs...

                  Welcome to the real world...

Yup, my colleague (a P.R.) just converted to S.C. for ease of biz travel. My DD's childcare had a parent who is considering converting to S.C. too. She admitted buying a hse near Maha Bodhi and may consider converting if the competition is getting hotter.

I can sure feel the pressure of more S.C. 😛

Schools are moving single session and cutting down intake + more PRs are converting to SC. We don’t need more births to heat up the way things are.

Someone mentioned that not so long ago, even citizens staying in Pulau Ubin can register at RGPS & those staying within 1km of Pei Hwa can definitely get in. This is not the same story now.

all i can say is good luck to the next batch of dragon babies… likely to have a spike in birth rates, and in the meantime school places will shrink to all time low from just one session…
