Pummanuel, thanks for the link too! Just read 2 of her latest articles. VERY inspiring! Realised both DH and I have failed quite terribly in our parenting methods 😞 She frequently emphasizes on giving our kids more freedom and DO NOT overcontrol them.

I think I fall into the overcontrolling camp too :!: Am trying to let go, not so easy.

Came across this set of Chinese books in the library, kids loved reading these. This is more for younger kids in kindy.

It's a series of stories about a little fox who moved to Green forest. The first book begins with her not having any friends, she sent a balloon to ask her friends from Blue forest to come visit her but the balloon went around the Green forest and the other animals realised she is actually lonely and came to befriend her. Have read some of the other stories and they are very nice also - eg one where there is an ancient rat who never leaves his home (a bit like Boo in To Kill a Mockingbird) and how the fox grew to befriend the rat.

You can find write up of the books from dangdang. If you don't want to buy, can try to find in the national library. My borrowed copies look quite well read.

          The whole 'series' of book:

One of the books in detail.

Sigh, the order I placed to DangDang are not processed yet as my Mastercard payment has met problems. How to solve huh? So frustrated. I don't have Amex card only VISA or Mastercard. Anyone has any advice? 😞

I’d recommend joining a spree from singaporemotherhood’s forum. If you don’t mind going somewhere to collect the books once they arrive. I got my books that way, hassle free and relatively quick.

Hi mummy of 2 and dimsum, you are most welcome. I've been reading 尹老师's posts lately via my handphone. Great way to kill my time on the bus/mrt.

I also realised I've failed in several aspects in parenting after reading her book as I'm a control freak too. But I guess all is not lost since we are self-reflecting parents.

I'm thinking of getting Jean-Jacques Rosseau's (卢梭) 'Emile' since he's so often mentioned in the book and by other early childhood educators. The original text is French, so cannot decide if I should get English or Chinese translated copy.

Hi, just to share some experience.

Recently the Wanbao has published a 午夜灵声 every Friday and Saturday. The story is between 500 – 800 words regarding some supernatural story. DD can understand the story without much problem. I take this as part of an additional CL enrichment material beyond the story books she read. However, have also told DD those were the make up stories just like sometimes she also needs to make up a good plot when writing English or CL composition.

FYI, for the P5 exam, usually the comprehension is about 400 - 500 words (takes some test papers as reference) and if they could read such a small text then it would become very much easy when reading the words size in the exam paper which is so much bigger than in the newspaper.

Just my 2 cents thought.
