CHIJ (Katong) Primary
-
just called the school and found out there is no affiliation to any sec school.
-
I thought it is indicated in MOE’s website that CHIJ(Katong) Pri is affiliated to CHIJ (Katong) Secondary?

I’ve registered my girl in IJ (katong) in phase 2C for Yr2011. And would like to know what’s the school hours since they’re in the single session? Can anyone share with me if they’ve prayer time during the school hrs?

The school hours are from 0735Hrs, but kids have to be in sch by 0720Hrs, as they have reading time in the court yard. Sch ends at 1320Hrs.
They do have prayer time, and family mass (i think once a mth) but am not sure. The catholic children as to attend catechism class every week, and non catholic kids will attend Ethics classes. -
KC primary is afflicted to KC Sec. I am old girl of both. Ok to go Pri, consider only Sec

Thanks mum03.
Just called the school, and there's 36 applicants within the 1km. Was surprised that no. of applicants exceeds the available places... Anyway, the school told me that my girl is confirmed to get a place. Yippee... Told my hb that we can go for a small celebration tonite. :celebrate: -

but thank god got through without any balloting.
Just wonder how come you got through without balloting, since 36 applicants within 1 KM. Or all applicant within 1 KM got in and those abv 1KM are to ballot. I know that there were 91 Vacancy and 100 to up, so I presume there is balloting this year. -

Shd have balloting for those staying beyond 1km or 2km. But this year Pri 1 registration is definitely very crazy... Am gg to go thru again in another 2 yrs time for my boy. sianz... So how's your girl getting on in the sch? Any pre-test on the day of orientation? I heard most sch will use this test to access the child and place them accordingly. Did you put your girl for extra enrichment classes? pai sai to bother you with my qns. -
When you receive the orientation letter, they will indicate the class your child will be going to.During orientation, the children will go to their desinated class. The parents will be attending a talk and thereafter have to buy books and uniforms. The kids are not tested on anything, the teachers will just inform the girls where is the toilet, and how to inform the class teacher if they need to go to the loo. The 1st 3 days of the sch, there will be catered lunch for the kids (if you pay for it), and thereafter the pri 2 girls will buddly the pri 1 girls for a week to teach them how to buy food from the canteen.
My DD goes to berries and I also have home tuition for a chinese (Kiasu).
Has for assesment during their Common test in May (which is not recorded) they will assess on their chinese, and thereafter they will be segregated accordingly. The weaker ones will go for extra classes after sch for 2 hrs. Ooops I forgot in Jan the teacher will assese the child and if they are weak in reading or maths, they will be send for extra lesson.
Hope I did not bore you. Overall I think you make the right choice of choosing KC. End of the day if my child comes home happy, I am happy

Thanks for clearing my doubts.
Totally agreed with you. I only put her in chinese enrichment class in Tien Hsia since she's in N1. And will let her do assessment books on English and Maths. Not sure, it is sufficient... My girl is not those \"automatic\" hardworking kid and always need to be pushed. She's my headache... That why, I'm afraid if she's able to cope in Pri 1. Probably, will enrol her for English creative writing. Any recommendation?
