Scary:
NYPS has been doing a lot. Next year will have space crunch due to building of indoor sports hall and one block of classrooms need to be rebuilt and hence out of useDid any of you look at the Phase 2C stats for the schools in this area? The demand cannot meet the supply at all!! How can that be? U live in that area but can't get into any school within this area.
Vacancies Applicants
BTPS 125 50
HPPS 72 107
MGS 37 42
NYPS 36 68
PHPPS 42 67
RGPS 63 76
Total 375 410
We are short by 35 vacancies!!!
MOE may not have consider the demand before allowing PHPPS to cut down 1 class. This is adding additional stress and burden to parents, be it mentally or financially.
Some kids spend 3 hrs on road to travel to schools in this area depriving others who live near to it not able to get in. Sometimes I just wonder why parents want to put their kids through such travelling 'torture'. I rather my kid spend the time in revising work or sleeping comfortably at home. They are so young, can't protect themselves if anything happen on the bus.
Think the foreigners in this area are starting to panic. Even BTPS is getting popular. Unsure if it may get filled up by Phase 2c supp leaving nothing or just a couple of vacancies for this group of people.
Still the school did not cut the intake size
In fact, it has been the largest school intake every year with 390 P1....plus the add on in P4 for GEP kids, the P4 to P6 cohort is any time 450 to 490 per year.... -

The demand can't meet supply b/c of all the students travelling there from all over the island! Despite the area's population density is among the lowest in the country (correct me if I'm wrong). There are too many top schools concentrated in one area.
Just an idea: how about MOE moves one of the most popular schools, e.g. NYPS or RGPS away from this area? They are not supported by good infrastructure in the first place. Then all the traffic problems in the area will be solved. But of course property owners in that area will strongly object

My gf went down nyps to check and she ask about the number of places since there’s so little in 2c. The staffs told her that sch wanted to cut classes but decided not to in the end…
-
Instead of cutting down classes, they should increase the no. by 1 or 2. Isn’t it that good thing should at least maintain, not let it be taken away.

not entirely true
That shows more people are living in BT area despite the property prices are at record high. That also means more rich people in SG.KSP:

Yup, there isn't a single school in BT which doesn't require at 1km. If kenna balloted out, have to look at schools in Bukit Batok.
students registered from phase 1 to phase 2A2 and part of 2B are not so much constrained by distance[/quote]Oh, I'm talking about 2C now. Need to ballot even within 1km. -

Not sure if increasing classes is going to help as the number of applicants will definitely increase accordingly. Also, more students means worse traffic jams around the school

-
Eh… Not too sure… Didn’t get to talk much cos we were rushing off…

Since all parents from all over SGP are willing to send their kids to the school, MOE should move the school to a more centrally location and build a SUPER CAMPUS, likes ITE Simei and ITE Choa Chu Kang, to accomodate the kids, so everybody will be happy......Just look at our Raffles family in Bishan.....Scary:
