2010 DSA(Direct School Admission)

On one hand, it’s easier to make decision when PSLE results are known; on the other hand, IP schs seems to take in abt 50 % from DSA. So the vacancies aft DSA are much less ; especially for schs with affliation eg NYGH, 420 places, abt 210 left for PSLE; dunno how much is reserved for NYPS (250 can go in already). May be that’s why NYGH COP is high.
That’s why we only advised DD to try 1 or 2 sch; if 1st choice didn’t give confirmed offer, may just leave to PSLE. We also didn’t spend much time on DSA + just so happens the sch we applied no need any selection tests/ camp - so min effort. Of course, selection test/camp/ interview - also good exposure/ experience for the kids. DSA is a safety net just in case DD falls sick or somehow didn’t perform well. -
My son actually applied for 4 schools that year and he got offer from all 4.
For NUSH, they will actually asked those who got an offer from them but knew that they will definitely not select NUSH to mail back a form to them to decline their offer within a few days so that they can confirm another students ontheir waiting list. -
DD just came home and told me sadly that one of her classmates was NOT accepted in her DSA application to RGS. The e-mail came yesterday.
Advised DD to encourage her classmate to try to do well for the upcoming PSLE and get in through the central S1 posting exercise (if she is still keen on going to RGS). -

This classmate's exempted from taking the GAT, so I would reckon that her results must be good. I have come into contact with her, nice gal - polite, mature and speaks well. Hence, the rejection came as a surprise.

Hihi
Has anyone heard anything from ACI, NUSH and Dunman (For non GEP)
Been reading that many got confirmed offers so am anxious. If your child has got CO from these school (Not under DSA Sports and GEP), please kindly drop a note to save the agony of waiting :?: -

Sometimes the girls who are rejected find it difficult to pick themselves up and she musn't fall into that rut.

One lesson learned - nothing is for sure, not even for a GEPer applying for DSA, contrary to what many people believe. :scared:
