Floods in Bukit Timah won't scare parents away. Used to stay at Duchess and hoping for floods so that we don't need to go to school or maybe late...attended Swiss Cottage then.

:!: Finally found someone who attended Swiss Cottage! I missed the school and my husband asked me how come I cannot put my dd into my alumni. problem is I dunno where is the school now. It would have been a great backup plan for those of us living in Bukit Timah.

more over, get this: PRs can go ballot, if fail never mind, can always go international school. SCs, if fail in the ballot, REAL big problem: SC will have to be posted to a local school. SC cannot go to international school. (ok , can, but you must appeal to MOE, with strong reasons, etc).

that's why for PR, there is nothing to lose for a ballot.

SC should really be given priority in education, medical, and welfare benefits. This is the norm in every country. If I go US/Aussie, I'm prepared to be treated as 2nd class simply because I'm not native there.

Im one of PR. What's the benefits for PR? Only CPF nothing else. Please dont think all PRs live luxury life.. and you've never known how hard we get PR these days.
If we PR read those kind of message, we can figure out SCs dont welcome PRs kids to Singapore local school. I feel very sad. We've never thought to put our kids to International school because we dont have enough money.

Of course we welcome PRs in our local school, since it adds diversity to the otherwise local cohort. However, we wonder why you do not want to join us as SC if you think that there is nothing good being a PR.


The point is that the system is not perfect and we are always striking for a balance in attracting the best foreign talent and ensuring that the local Singaporeans accepts the influx of foreign talents for the good of the nation.

We are just asking that the government clearly differentiate the benefits of between SC vs PR. Otherwise, it will just create an unhealthy sense of inequity and we will not be able to weed out the free riders in the system. In my opinion, having one ballot slip extra does not make much of a difference when there are already PRs who have been in the system for too long. I am sure many of us knows of PRs who will perpetually be SPRs and when you ask them why do they not convert to SC, they will say "What for??" and that is our point.
