RI Maths Competition

Sorry typing mistake , i know that Nan hua P6 Maths Olympiad Training is by Maths Hub but the P5 Maths olympiad training is by another enrichment centre Bcoz Maths hub does not have enough teacher to teach P5 Math olympiad in Nan Hua Primary . i heard my boy’s classmates say that the question set by enrichment centre was to simple , probably because they are in the ( mainstream top class ) . My boy goes directly to Maths hub Enrichment Centre those questiona are very challenging . he says that 50% of his Maths hub classmates are from Nanyang Primary . Actully , many student from Nan hua go directly to Maths hub too . some of them start from P1 haha… really kiasu .javascript:emoticon(‘’)
Of course , the school’s math olympiad is cheap ( $100 once a week for 4 months Only ) i think is still not enough for training bcoz is very short time .javascript:emoticon(‘’)
But maths hub is whole yrs class so they maybe more professionar . ( per term 10 lessons with 2hrs per lessons $ 440 ) -
Heard that Catholic High Maths Olympiad Training is by Learning Interactive http://www.li.com.sg and that quite a number of students who are ranked amongst the top for the RI Maths competition go directly to Learning Interactive for training.
Founder is ex NTU maths lecturer and heard that questions are very challenging... -

This centre didn't return my calls on admission enquiries. Too popular, I guess and since it was near start of term, we gave up and signup with Maths Oasis instead.Heard that Catholic High Maths Olympiad Training is by Learning Interactive http://www.li.com.sg and that quite a number of students who are ranked amongst the top for the RI Maths competition go directly to Learning Interactive for training.

Next up is the SMOPS 2009
Here are last years results. Notice that GEP schools always have a lot of students in the ranking.

Oh yes, their classes for Maths Olympiad training are very popular. I think maybe because Learning Interactive is one of the first few to start this Maths Olympiad training and after that, many centres started sprouting up.

Hi
My boy is also trained by them and it is organise by his school (Ai Tong). They are very strict and every term they will set their own exam paper and students didn't meet their requirement will not continuous the next term. My boy classmate obtained silver in his NUSH competition last year but didn't perform well in the term test he was not selected for his year Olympiad.sunflower:

just curious…all these maths competition, you can only participate through school, and not register as an individual ?
-
For NUS and RI, you definitely have to register thru’ school. They do not accept outside registration. HCI still can register as individual.
I called Learning Interactive, and they claimed that all classes are full. And they are not opening any more classes as lack trainers. I think for them, they mostly run training in schools. Also, they require the kids to have high maths marks before they accept them in. -
For NMOS (NUS High Olympiad at )5), my son registered at Maths Oasis as his school misplaced his registration. For RIPMWC (RI Olym at )6), can only register through school, for selected students only.

Understand NUS high has changed policy and require the students to register thru’ school only. That’s the latest I’ve heard from some parents who are trying to register their kids this year.
