Thanks Moms & Dads for all the replies.

TKPS is one of my options as my kids wouldn't need to go through balloting coz dad is a former student (from before the merger) & that saves the stress we parents have to go through. However, of coz, choosing a primary sch is critical... cant leave things to chance. Still a bit of time left to decide on a sch for my kiddos. 🙂 Wish all parents the best of luck in getting the sch of your choice! :celebrate:

        Hi.

I just registered my son for P1 in TKPS.

Looking at all the ballotting taking place in other schools, even some like SSS, makes me wonder if I made the right choice.

Like…why does TKPS have a lower take-up rate?

But I’ve heard great things about the school and even tho SSS is within 1km fr home, I chose to reg here. Heard the kids enjoy school and the extra-curricular progs are good.

Hm…anyone out there also registered for P1 in 2011 and wanna share your thots?

Guess I’m just looking for someone to tell me I made the right choice…Hahaha!

Raajberry I concur! I also registered my son at tkps (phase 2C) and was worried that there might be balloting 'cos I was already no. 40+ on the list for 128 places on the morning if the first day! My friends tell me that it’s a pretty good school, but from hearsay and not own experience. But my decision to send him there was to get more mixed exposure - while not so ‘international’ now, there were still a good mix of races on registration day -and focus on aesthetics and arts rather than study study study… Plus we r looking for a place in haig area lol!

Experienced TKPS parents where do you buy uniforms etc and do we need to do this before orientation like some other schools? How do they allocate classes for

            the kids?

My son has been accepted in TKPS. TKPS is in a good neighbourhood. I think our children will have fun in learning in TKPS. I am a mother who encourages my son to pursue excellence in everything he does, not to achieve fame or fortune, but for himself. So I think TKPS is a good match for him. The school which I volunteered previously, is pushing their children so hard so as to win medals. To them, winning is everything, that’s why I change my mind.

@limhowping hi there! I agree with you! Think from what has been said tkps will be more well rounded… But hopefully that will continue to be the case over the years as I’ve also read that the school was ‘shaped’ that way by the former principal. And the current principal may not have the same priorities.

Think it’s important for our kids to have fun in primary school and not be too narrowly focused e.g on awards etc. Instilling a love for learning and all roundedness is much healthier

                    Hi Ely,

I just registered my DS to TKPS. I felt their last year results were not bad at all, above national average.

Don’t worry too much and don’t be over reliant on schools for our kid’s results and discipline. Let’s work together with the teachers, do our part as parents, encourage and help our kid, enable them to achieve their best.

Most importantly, let them have an enjoyable 6 years of primary school life.

                    Cheers.

HI.. My 2 DS is in TKPS. Everything will be organised on the Orientaion Day itself. From Orientation of kids to their class, introduction to their teachera and friends, briefing to parents, buying books, buying uniforms/shoe/sock etc. Nothing is to be done before the Orientation day. Just need to take note of the day and attend. ^_^

Yes, totally agreed on this.. My 2 DS enjoyed going to school everydays. They click very well with their friends and even teachers. Just work together with teachers and they welcome feedbacks on your child. You can talk to the class teacher directly on all concern issue on your child. Hope your child also love school ^_^
