        Hi,

        Pls help to solve this speed question. TIA šŸ˜„

        A tiger and a leopard are 60km apart.
        The tiger runs at a speed of 55km/h.
        At the same time, the leopard runs towards the tiger at a speed of 25km/h.
        How much further will the tiger have run than the leopard when the two animals meet?

          Hope this help.

          For every 1 hour, the two animals ran -> 55 + 25 = 80 km

          If total distance is 60 km, that will take 60 / 80 = ¾ hour

          So the two animals will take ¾ hour ( 45mins) to meet.

          (55-25) km/hr X ¾ hr -> 30 x ¾ = 22.5 km

              How much further will the tiger have run than the leopard when the two animals meet?

              For fixed time taken, the ratios of speed and distance of tiger to leopard are ..
              \tTiger\tLeopard
              Speed\t11 :\t5
              Distance\t11 :\t5

              16units =60km
              2units = 7.5km
              6units = 22.5km

              The tiger would have run 22.5km further than the leopard when they meet.

                  No wonder I not able to get the answer due to my wrong calculation; 1920 x 5 = 9100. šŸ˜ž

                    Don't mention it. This reminded me of my own experience at 15.
                    I had all the answer sheets in front of me then , yet my then \"RI\" buddy ( I was in a girls' school) who later became my first bf still bothered to snail-mail the solutions to me for me to check my steps as sometimes I might not get the answer due to wrong calculation. šŸ˜‰

                      Hi,

                      Please help to solve this fraction question. TIA.
                      šŸ˜„

                      Meiling spent an equal amount of money each day.
                      After 4 days, she had 4/5 of her money left.
                      After another 10 days, she had $30 left.
                      How much money did she have at first?

                        In 4 days, she has 16/20 of her money left. So, she spends 4/20 in 4 days, or 1/20 in a day. She spent her money for a total of 14 days, so

                        Amount left after 14 days -->20/20 - 14/20 = 6/20. 6/20 = $30

                        6/20 = 30/100 = $30
                        $30 x 100/30 = $100

                        She had $100 at first.

                        EDIT: She spends $5 a day. šŸ™‚

                        Solved by my son (who is technically me) who also typed this whole message whose grammer might be lousy.

                        If it's wrong (which it shouldn't be) sorry then. šŸ˜›
