Hi all mbs parents have u gone to the school website to participate in assessment system survey? Date line is tomorrow.

Hi..I submitted last fri because my boy wanted me to do it before the long weekend. My answers to the survey is the same every year.
Btw, the kids do not need to bring school books to school at all this week? Wonder what they will do in school. Must be a fun week of learning since no text books needed. -

Anyone can advise if school bus operators ferry children for CCAs?
My child will be taking the school bus to and fro normal days but for days with CCAs, do they arrange for early pickups at extra charge? -

I think the school bus do but I am not sure if it is a standard practise. Eg. the P3 has to stay back later on wednesday for buddhist study and malay class. I know the uncle will send them back and we have to pay additional $5.Anyone can advise if school bus operators ferry children for CCAs?

Meanwhile for CCA that ends later, I know some of them actually take the 6.20 together with P1/P2 kids. -
Seems like a fun and exploratory week for the kids.
They came back with projects each night. My P3 had to do a new generation board game and was excited about it.
Meanwhile for my P2, he was preparing for his \"presentation\" till quite late last night. He said the entire P2 have to go up the stage and do a presentation.
That sounds like good fun and exposure for them. :celebrate:
Err.... CA2 starting next week... :faint: -

Yes for higher primary students who stay back late for CCAs on Wed and remedial lessons on other days but not for P1 & P2s who are going to school early for CCAs. You may still double check with the school bus auntie/ uncle. -

Welcome to our group :imanisland: I was also ex-MBS and studied at Geylang lor 34. I am also a member in FB. Do you belong to those who graduated in mid 80's? I believe we have some parents here who are also ex-MBS.
Yes, my kids are with BC. In fact for 2 years come end of this year. BC is very interesting and they enjoy the lessons but it's probably not following the syllabus closely and hence not exam \"effective\".
On top of that with the english program used in school, my personal observation is that it teaches through different activities but we don't see enough \"drilling\" on grammar or other basic rules of english or even written expression. So the kids remain to be grammatically challenge if they have not done enough practises outside school/ enrichment classes.
I am pulling my kids out of BC after this year. My eldest is going to be P4 next year so I need something more exam \"effective\" now. Personally, I am looking at either LCentral or Learning Lab. I've a K1 in Lorna Whiston at this moment but I doubt I will let her continue when she is in P1.
Meanwhile for phonics. I actually send my kids to Jan & Elly at Serangoon Garden. It's a solid 1.5 years phonics program. I don't think you've time for that now. I know they do \"express\" program too. It's a 1-1 course to prepare those weak in phonics for P1 going. They usually do that during school hols but expect to pay full term fees + incremental due to 1-1 coaching.
For maths, we are on enopi and so far we are happy with that.
SA - Semestral assessment. It's like mid year and final year exams.
CA - Continual assessment. Conducted towards end of each term. For P3 and above. So it's honeymoon period for P1 and P2.
