      Hi Mathsguru, pls advise on how u interpret this question:

      Peter & Ali met at 9 am. Peter's watch is 15 mins faster than the actual time. Ali was earlier than him by 10mins.
      If Peter reached on time, according to the time shown on his watch, what is the actual time Ali arrive?

      Is the answer 8.50am??

      No, the answer is not 8.50am. My answer is also different from the teacher's. Posted here to find out how others interpret the question.

                  Hi ...

                  1) Common multiple of 4 and 10 is 20.
                  After 8.30am the next time both timer will beep together is 20 mins after 8.30am i.e 8.50am

                  2) 12 / 2 = 6
                  5 / 2 = 2 R 1
                  7 / 2 = 3 R 1
                  6 * 2 * 3 = 36

                  😄

                    -

                    Bob will complete 1/6 of his journey in one hour
                    Adrian will complete 1/9 of his journey in one hour

                    Three hours:

                    Bob will complete 3/6 of his journey
                    Adrian will complete 3/9 of his journey

                    That leaves Bob with 3/6 of his journey to complete and Adrian with 6/9 of his journey.

                    3/6B=6/9A
                    1/2B=2/3A

                    Bob->4u
                    Adrian->3u

                    B:A
                    4:3

                    Not sure if correct

                      b) If he had $40 left, how much had he at first ?

                      I take that this is your question?

                      My solution:

                      a)1-1/6=5/6

                      That means Sam had 5/6 of the remainder left.

                      1-2/5=3/5

                      3/5 is the remainder.

                      Hence,

                      5/6x3/5=1/2

                      Ans:1/2

                      b)

                      1/2 of the money= $40

                      Thus,

                      $40x2=$80

                      Ans:$80

                        Time ratio => Bob : Adrian = 1 : 2
                        Speed ratio => Bob : Adrian = 2 : 1

                        Distance ratio => Bob : Adrian = (2 x 6) : (1 x 9) = 4 : 3
