I feel sad, that she has wasting her time & i as mother wasting my $..
Or next year then decide?[/quote]Hi Phankao,
Yes, she like music, she would like to go Nafa, but do know they will take her at 13 year old & can I request her to do G7 instead od repeat G6?
I really do not think that i will able to find her a good teacher as I am a foreigner and know not many people around.. -

My dd is with her 4th teacher and I'm searching for her 5th -
Maybe before u decide, you might want to find out why she fail her gr 6. If it is lack of practise then maybe she shouldn’t skip to gr 7 as she will need more practise as compared to gr 6.

Her mark for 3 songs 20,20,18 , aural & scale mark was low.. For G6 she might not pratise as hard as G5, but for G5 she also obtain just pass 110 -
hmmm, sounds like she needs more preparation. The marking scheme for gr 6-8 is different from gr 1-5, the requirements are definately higher.
Why not let her try again in Feb/Mar period to regain some confidence and get more exposure before trying the next grade? -

Her teacher told me she will be busy & would like to stop teaching piano today, and I ask her should her repeat G6, she said I think no need.. she sais her aural can do better dont know why like that?hmmm, sounds like she needs more preparation. Try music schools near your home? Ask about teacher's profile, talk to other parents wih kids learning from that teacher. Should be easier to decide thereforth

Each piece's passing mark is 20. So she just passed 2 pieces and didn't for 1 piece.

Passing mark for scales & sight-reading is 14 each too, and aural is 12marks.
If she was weak in those areas too, it looks like she was generally weak overall, and should work on all those areas.
There's actually a new syllabus for 2011/2012 already, so if she does not re-take her grade 6 for feb/mar exam for next year, she'll need to learn a whole new set of pieces.
Oh, and she will really need to work those scales to be assured of a much better score. What she can work on are her 3 pieces and her scales to get as high a score as possible for these. Bc these are the \"known\" areas. The areas she CAN practise on. The other areas like aural & sight-reading are considered \"unknown\" and altho can be exposed to and practise to certain extent, they are still the \"unknown\" since you will not know exactly what the examiner will give. So work on the \"known\" so that even if the \"unknown\" is weak, the overall score will still be not so bad.
Hope that helps!
Sorry, I don't know teacher in Jurong, unless you are interested in going to a teacher in bukit timah. -
