DS told me the 3 papers for phase 1 was quite tedious, especially the Abstract Reasoning, some people in his hall was sobbing halfway through the test, so sad.
Did they release the results of the test? Last year they did. Ds said last year the test was ok.

Don't worry about the school's admin stuff. It's like stat board. haha! But the kids really enjoy it there!

          Hi Srtparent,
My DS got through the 2nd round as well. :celebrate:
Just got the email like u did. πŸ˜„

Do you have any idea what do the students do on Phase 2A Day Activity? They were asked to wear the PE uniform, will be any physical activity involved? Or will it be like the NUSH Activity day where they do experiments etc.

          hi Powerpuff :celebrate: :celebrate:

gratz to u too. Hope more from this helpful forum will get the good news soon as the emails trickled through the day.

seriously, I have no idea. But considering that the interview is one week later, and they are asked to wear PE attire - I am guessing it's more like a Leadership test and more towards physical activities ? perhaps some team sports, to see how much comradeship they possess ? I do know a good team spirit is more impt to them than individual prowess.

definitely not experiments, I think, as they focus not so much on Science like NUSH or SST.

Anyway, I feel the whole DSA thing has been a great experience for the kids, with the interviews and all. Hope DS learn something. So far, he went for GAT and interview at RI, and enjoyed them thoroughly. His interview was with the principal in her office, 3 boys from different schools at one time, and they were made very relax and comfortable.

DS did not apply for HCI because we heard there will be an interview in Chinese, lol. It turned out, his classmates said that was not true, and the interviews were conducted in English and most breeze through scenario test type questions.

only funny thing is, Dunman has not said anything nor call him up for interview, only an acknowledgement so far. :?

curious to know, your DS applied under which domain ? GEP ? GEP does not need to sit for GAT, and non-GEP have to sit for GAT but does not need to have any interview at RI

As for HCI, there are some interviewed in BOTH English and Chinese

            Hi phanko,

Do they ?? I would love to see the results, how did they release it last year ? Informed the score via email or ????

DS was okay with the tests, he is a bit lazy when it comes to studies, but he loves all these Abstract stuff. Trying to drill him into putting more effort in exams, especially the PSLE.

            Hi vk2010,

Yes, he is in GEP, but he scored 79 at his SA1 for P6, so those below 80 had to go for GAT. It was good though, I thought it was a very good experience. He was exempted from DHS's GAT test though.

If HCI had interviewed him in Chinese, I think sure mati, lol. Even though he studies Higher Chinese, his conversational Chinese leaves much to be desired.

Good luck to all students / parents.

thanks for clarifying on the RI interview

agreed that the GAT at RI is a good experience

many of my boy's friends applied for DHS as well and found it easy. My boy did not apply for DHS

In the NJC email they mentioned, an optional reference form to get a referee to fill-in. Is it OK to choose not to submit? Time is running up with PSLE oral this week . Thinking of getting the teachers to fill-up but they are so busy now …

Need not be a P6 teacher...can also be his CCA teacher i/c or even P4 / P5 teacher whom he has left a good impression with.

Main thing is just get it done and NOT live to regret later!! :celebrate:

                        Scoobybdoo and Cascada,

Agree with both of you that it is sure not easy to be a parent nowadays. We worry over our kids much more than our parents did over us, given the school environment is so much more complicated now.

Hey, you guys are not alone. I am sure that there are many more parents out there who share your sentiments.

All the best to you and your kids!
