Ahh..am thinking about this topic too.... am thinking of switching my gal to fresh milk..
Switched my kids to fresh milk since they were 2yrs old.yamyam:
Hey Mummies.
Those with kids that are already more than 3.5years old. Are you still letting them drink powder milk? Can we switch them 100% to fresh milk or full cream milk?
which brand of fresh milk do u all let ur kiddos drink? I read the fresh milk thread, and there are talks about added sugar, oz cows reared in indonesia, oz cows in oz etc... overwhelmed by information...
My main 3 concerns -
==> since FM is fortified, does that mean we need to feed our kids supplements (eg, DHA) if we switch totally to fresh milk? My gal's solid intake is still not very nutrious (fussy eater)
==> concerned that she will get wind in her stomach drinking warmed up fresh milk which had been kept in the fridge.
==> fresh milk has a short expiry date. If I started her partially on fresh milk, she will end up drinking from the same bottle which is near to expiry date (hb and I are not milk drinkers) -

The supplements they are taking since they started childcare are just multivits and fish oil. There was a period when I put them on multivits with lysine cos they were not eating well. That helped to improve their appetite. Once they are eating well, I reduce their dose, alt days, then slowly, back to normal multivits.
I don't know about wind in their stomach, my kids normally drink their milk chilled, so far no issues. When DD first tried fresh milk, she had a bit of lose stools but that went away after a couple of times.
If you are concerned about the expiry, then start with the small packs which I believe she will be able to finish within a day. Will be more costly for a start but at least no wastage. -

Had been busy and just had time to see this thread.
DW would qualify for this thread. DD is 7 this yr, and DS just celebrated his 5th birthday last Mon.
DW was expecting no. 3 2.5 yr ago, but amnio result was no good… Gynae didn’t give us a choice, but just told us to arrange soonest date to go down for the inevitable…
It wasn’t easy, but we came through it… -

Multivits with lysine? Which brand and where can I get this? The taste is ok with your kids?
How abt normal multivits? Any brands to recommend? -
I wonder if anyone is here older than me..I am in my late 40s ( very late)with a DS 11 and DD 8 years old. I am a WAHM and have a very good domestic helper.
I find late motherhood works for me cos I am calmer and more accepting. The reason for it is my travelling corporate job. DH and I have known each other for more than 20 years! We only got married 13 years ago. Now I am all ready to do all the mothering!
I am just lucky that I got my children when I want them. Thank God for that. -

I think older moms are better prepared and more patience but that's just IMHO.
Here's to you and your lovely brood :celebrate: -
Thanks Duriz.
Being a late mom has its challenges but I must admit I am lucky cos I was able to work from home and spend time with the kids. I don’t need to think of what might hv been. It’sa case of been there, done that kind of thing.
So u r ready to settle down and do some serious mothering! -
