I have a girl going to P1 in 2012. I hope to get her into RGPS. I’ve filled in the parent volunteer application form and sent it in. Unfortunately, there have been no news, not even a rejection. Can anyone tell me if this means that I’ve been rejected or they just haven’t come to the time to recruit parent volunteers for parents with children born in 2006?

Glad to say my dd will be in P1 at RGPS next year.... we are one of the 63 that survived the ballot last Friday.... looking forward to sharing and also any advice and/or tips as we go along!

Did the school draw 63 times ballot in or just 2 times ballot out?

They drew all 63 one by one...... last 2 did not get drawn.... must be hard on those who did not get it.....

For P1 in 2012, you should be doing PV and start clocking your hrs now. But they would need to interview you before you are accepted as PV. You can call the school and check.

I just found out that P1 at RGPS is afternoon session! Logistical nightmare because my entire support structure is geared towards a morning session school. Anyway …

1) What are start and end timings for P1? (I called the school but they seemed uncertain with their answers!)
2) Are there exceptions to the rule and how often do they happen? Eg. Teacher meetings, etc?

Yeah, my girl will also be joining P1 next year. Hurray! Is it really very stressful in RGPS? My frens are asking me to sign up for Learning Lab but I do have a budget to work with and just want to sign up for the necessary. Anyone heard about I-Creative? Is it good?

I-Creative is it ICL (Independent Creative Learner)? My gal is with this home base centre since she was 4yo. Very good. My gal has no problem with her phonics, vocab. They have started her with simple compo & compre early this year. Would very much like to continue when she is in P1 but they have limited centre for Lower Primary which is not convenience to us. So, I may drop her by end of this yr.

I called the school twice already and they just asked me to wait. I sent in my application this year in March and they still haven't called me in for an interview. Should I give up and think of something else?

P1 starts at 12:30pm, ends at 6:30pm... Exceptions happen only during combined celebration on National Day. On teacher-parents meeting days, it would be a school holiday.

For a child borned in 2006, P1 should be in 2013 right? Why is urs going to P1 in 2012? Or do u mean registration in 2012?

OH btw the P1 registration this year is on 19th Nov, a Friday instead of typically on a Saturday…
