Oral Chinese over, DS said quite good. crossed fingers then. tomorrow English Oral, and then can take a short break for him.

It's been hard for him these 2 days, 26 of his boys cohorts got CO from RI, only 9 of them on WaitList, 2 rejected. But the 2 who got reject letter and the others on WL at RI, mostly get CO from HCI, only 1 on Waitlist from HCI. My understanding is all the girls also CO from RGS and NYGH too.

Kinda made me regret not applying for HCI now. His classmate who scores badly in SA1 ( GE average less than 70 ) and who was rejected in RI, also manage to get a CO from HCI. Good for him, because 1 da before, he was very depressed about the rejection letter from RI.

But DS still hope he can get into RI via PSLE Tscore, as most of his friends are there.

Can only console myself that this WaitList from RI, has woke him up and need to buck up for his PSLE. It has been hard on him, as most of his mates already got 2 Confirmed Offers ( RI and HCI ).

Good luck to all others who are still waiting. 😎 πŸ™

Your DS must be from GEP then. How about mainstream boys who went through GAT and selection test for RI DSA? Not many have received reply.

Wow, the boy who scored <70% must be very talented in a particular subject to be able to secure CO from HCI. Was there anyone who didn't secure any COs at all?

As for your son, this is how I feel. If his dream school is RI, then you shouldn't have any regrets about not trying out for HCI. Because if you're offered a CO by HCI, you're likely to accept that CO. What if he manages to get in to RI via his PSLE score? You'll regret that he is now obliged to go to HCI, even though that's not his dream school. Given that he's from GEP, I am sure that with some effort, he will be able to get into RI on the strength of his PSLE results.

                    Hi Jtoh,

yes, even their teacher expressed surprised he got a CO from HCI after RI rejected him. Must have really impressed them during the interview.

I think only 2 or 3 ( including DS ) has not gotten any CO, only WL. All the girls CO. GEP girls are in short supply, I guessed.

Thanks for your encouraging words, and yes I considered that point before, and he reiterate his wish to be with the majority of his friends at RI. I think this is the best kind of motivation he needs to study hard and try his best at PSLE . Was having a heart to heart talk with him about my regret on not applying HCI, he said his dream is still the same. So hope he will strive hard for his own dreams.

On his WL form from RI, they said he is to put 1st choice as RI in Oct, and it will NOT affect his confirmed spot from other schools, can that be true ? :?

Anyway, wish everyone success in PSLE as well. :celebrate:

My understanding about the DSA option form is, if a student has a WL and CO and he puts his first choice as RI on WL and the second choice as HCI with CO, in the event that he doesn't get RI, he should get HCI because that school has a confirmed place for him.

BUT, the DSA option exercise takes place outside of the S1 posting exercise. That is, the child's posting will not be dependent on his PSLE score. Therefore, even if he scores 270, he will still be posted to HCI because that was in his list of choices in the DSA exercise form. He will not be posted to RI because he wasn't high enough on the waitlist ranking.
