It's a subject for parents to study. Need planning and strategising and lots of praying to maximise score!

One more thing jtoh, the way you put it, if there are 10 people ahead of DS in WL for RI, and only 9 slots become available, there will be ZERO chance for him to go to RI ? As you put it, DSA is outside S1 posting exercise, so even if he scores 270, he will not get a chance under S1 posting to RI, but instead definitely be posted to his 2nd choice, if a CO existed there ?

Then, it could be a whammy to him, if he does extremely well above his own expectation and there still is no slot available on WL priority for him. It would be irrelevant then even if he scores 270 and not being considered under S1 posting to RI as an option.

Would the PSLE Tscore be known before the 25 to 29 Oct exercise ? or after ? thanks ahead

This is because MOE likes to differentiate students. They like create new grouping scheme. So you see higher mother tongue, Chinese A Chinese B, there could be A1 and A2 in future

You make it sound so tedious throughout, LOL. I think that is only if the parents make it to be complex. Personally, I think the P6 stage is very critical for the kids, so this DSA / S1 posting stage is the most important of all.

We never did anything prior to this stage - DS went to the nearest school which was available, went nonchalantly for the GEP papers ( and shocked us all, hahaha ), then we had to moved school after my teacher aunt advised us to take up the offer, and then now this. As you can tell, I also had not much idea about the DSA process as well, until I read this forum in July.

I think they should be able to enjoy themselves in Primary School, but the real deal starts in Secondary School. That's when kids become the dreaded teen stage, when friends and peers mean more to them than the oldies at home. So if they are in a good school, the influence is likely to be positive and vice versa - hence all of the forumers' concerns and anxiety and stress and nail biting, etc at THIS stage.

The rest is up to them.

Was so much simpler when we were growing up, lol.

anyway, my DD wants her brother to go NJC, so she can still have a chance to join him in 2 years. If he goes boys school, then she will be

( little does she knows when they reach teen stage, she wont want to be near him, LOL )

Strparent, hope you don't mind me jumping in here. In this case, you may consider only putting RI in your DSA acceptance form and reject all other DSA offers whether they are CO or WL. In this case, in case your ds misses the DSA slots, he will still be able to participate in S1 posting using his PSLE results. The risk here is that if his PSLE score is lower than expectation, he may be worse off. PSLE scores will only be known in mid Nov, on the same day when you know the outcome whether his RI WL is confirmed.

Continue as follows:
Secondary IP vs IB vs GCE \"O\" level, then comes GCE \"A\" level vs Diploma in Poly, and finally, if still in the race: local or overseas Uni and which course.

Hi Strparent,

Yes, you're correct. He will not be posted to RI even if his T-score is 270.

The DSA Exercise School Preference Stage takes place in October. PSLE results will only be known in late November. Hence you have to make your decision on your choice of DSA school before your results are out.

If a candidate is confident that he did well in his PSLE (having already taken all the papers by then), then he can choose to forgo the CO in HCI and just put down the WL for RI. So even if he doesn't get in via WL, he'll be able to take part in the S1 central posting and get into RI provided he meets the COP.
