You make it sound so tedious throughout, LOL. I think that is only if the parents make it to be complex. Personally, I think the P6 stage is very critical for the kids, so this DSA / S1 posting stage is the most important of all.

We never did anything prior to this stage - DS went to the nearest school which was available, went nonchalantly for the GEP papers ( and shocked us all, hahaha ), then we had to moved school after my teacher aunt advised us to take up the offer, and then now this. As you can tell, I also had not much idea about the DSA process as well, until I read this forum in July.

I think they should be able to enjoy themselves in Primary School, but the real deal starts in Secondary School. That's when kids become the dreaded teen stage, when friends and peers mean more to them than the oldies at home. So if they are in a good school, the influence is likely to be positive and vice versa - hence all of the forumers' concerns and anxiety and stress and nail biting, etc at THIS stage.

The rest is up to them.

During my time, Hwa Chong was top JC, then NJC and then RJC. Now it seems the name Raffles is now considered most prestigious . I was at RJC for 1st 3 months, then went to NJC, lol. Now you hardly see anyone do that, jumping from RI to NJC.

Actually, I know of RI/RGS students who had applied for DSA (JC) to ACS I (IB) or HCJC for JC next year, with some who had already accepted the offers. There are still some movement among the JCs though in small numbers.

Did all the research previously when my child was taking PSLE and DSA. Had to familiarise myself with all the different scenarios just in case. Fortunately my child was given CO to 3 schools so we had it easy.

As he does not get the DSA, he will probably work extra hard and end up doing very well for the PSLE, and eventually still get into his dream school! I have heard of students who got DSA offers, then became relax and end up not doing well for PSLE and did not meet the EESIS cut-off.

anyway, my DD wants her brother to go NJC, so she can still have a chance to join him in 2 years. If he goes boys school, then she will be

( little does she knows when they reach teen stage, she wont want to be near him, LOL )

I think nowadays it gets a little more complicated over the years - even nearby neighbourhood sch also have ranking and some end up balloting over a few phases. I've seen colleagues rushing round to find \"better\" schools with vacancies for P1 registration phase after phase. For some, it is tedious from P1 :lol:

My situation was the exact opposite. My son was only invited by HCI to 1 camp (can't remember which one) end of P5 which he couldn't attend because we were traveling, and participated in a translation competition. However, he was invited by RI to like 4 events throughout P5 and P6. After an overnight camp in RI earlier this year, he was totally sold to the idea that RI is his dream school :lol:.

After PSLE, I will get him to take a hard look at whether his \"dream\" school is indeed the \"right\" school. Somehow, I am not thrilled that he has to spend 2 hours each day on the bus to and fro from school. The decision will be his, of course.

Is EESIS auto-renew for the 6yr through out even if a child has not been doing well at IP school.


Does anyone know how EESIS is mathematically determined? The MOE website msg is not clear in definition.

MOE website only says \"The scholar must make good progress each year in order to continue receiving the scholarship.\" Doesn't sound like an auto-renewal to me.

congrats ! your son got CO from RI.

my son kept missing the RI activities ......... one of his friends kept invited, submitted for DSA, sat for selection test - still no news. another of the class mate, average marks lower, got CO from RI, but did not get HCI's CO ..... funny world
