      Cotton:
      Hello all

Any parents from Fernvale Primary? Days ago, I gave my feedbacks to the school as well as to the VP but I guess I wasn't taken seriously. Worst of all, I was told to wait and see! So what should I do now? WAIT till I ran out of patience or should i call the MOE for help? Please advise! Thks.
      Hi Cotton,

I children are very young to enter Primary school. We stay near the school so most prob they will be entering this school. Could you share with me what happen? If it is very serious I think you have to tell MOE... I'm very anxious about putting my children in the right school.

        Hello Littlegals!

Of cos, i share with you! Previously, we drove in & fetch our kids at the foyer after the sch bus left. But since last wed(11Aug, pouring cats & dogs), we had to park our cars at the HDB multi-storey carparks(blks away), then walk over to the side gate to pick the kids up. Let me know, if there is anyone out there willing to do so? So still, we parked along the roads, void decks & waited for our kids. Result - on tat day, most kids were drenched to the skin.
I reflected to the office but all I got was an impatient "thank you for feedback" answer. Finally, I managed to speak the VP & the reasons she gave was : Reason 1- drivers parked discriminately along the road and one child nearly got knocked down. Did she forget the side gate is along the road? If wat she said is true, why wasn’t letters issued to warn the parents? By closing the main gate only worsen the traffic condition & safety of the child. Reason 2 - Safety measures. Did she mean safety within the school compound or outside the school? Well, inside the school, YES! No cars except the teachers’. Outside, NO! Childrens and parents and other drivers! Till today, more cars waiting outside! Not to forget, she said we should pack raincoats and parasol in the school bag in case it rains. Hello, does she understand what she is saying?!
When I ask her, will the sch revise its decision? HAHA! She told me to wait for 1 Term and see how? OMG! Is it way too long to wait for her decision or she is incapable of making decision? I spoke to other parents, they too think the decision was a cartoon one! Some had given their feedbacks but …! Sigh! All we wan, was to drive in to pick up our kids then go off! Simple as ABC! Please advise! Thks.

I was thinking... it will be good if can get a lot of parents to complain to the school and make it something important. Hopefully the school will do something about it before T1.
I will talk to my friends who kids in Fernvale Pri and see what they think about it.

Thank you, Dear! We are trying to get more parents involved. Although it might seem to be a minor thing. But please, when it's our own kids in the pic then everything is necessary to ensure our child safety. Nobody wants to be a nasty parent! Let's wait and see if any measures is taken into consideration. Mus 🙏 real hard! Ha!Ha!

So far, I’ve no complains about the school.

My DS enjoys going to school. I like the fact that this school only has morning sessions. And the school organizes many talks for parents.
It breaks my heart to see my DS drenched when walking to the car in the rain. However, I have learnt to accept that (no choice mah).
At Fernvale, at least I still get to drive in to let DS alight at the foyer in the mornings. I have heard of other well-known schools where the kids are made to walk all the way in from the front gate. Hope FVPS will never do that!

Fernvale do not have CA cos the school is fairly new n is adopting MOE’s new initiative PERI assessment. It’s all rounded n many prestigious schools are also adopting this assessment. Even school like nan Chiau still don’t have. Personally I think it’s more fair. Imagine 2 kids sit for written exam only n the weaker one goes to " lousy" class based on that paper only? Imagine the weaker pupil can speak very well n the better kid cannot? Peri assessment test on presentation, speaking, listening and writing. It’s very fair. In easy terms, it’s called bite size assessment or formative assessment. This form of assessment is good for lower Pri ESP P1 since they are very young. Good training too. As for teachers, high MC cos they are at family planning stage. So long as they make up for it when they return, e kids won’t miss out too much. Do note that the school gives differentiated worksheets to pupils according to their learning ability. They don’t force feed. Popular schools in this area also don’t have. Too complacent, I guess.
