may be they have yet to comply with MOE guidelineverykiasu2010:
all pri school are supposed to have class size of up to max 30 kids for P1 & 2, as per MOE requirement
When i was registering my boy at MS - i tot i saw a sign that said that each class has about 35 or 36 pupils.
not sure when is the dateline for compliance though......most of the SAP schools are already doing with 30 per class for P 1 & 2. P3 onward is still 40 / class -

Hi, any idea on whether baptised catholics get to register at 2B?i.e. either parent or child with baptism cert, not both. Hmmm but what if we have 2 schools which we want to register for at 2B? E.g. if I went to SJIJ to register but dont get a place, then what would be my Plan B?Hi Lynette,
This year doesnt seem to indicate that MS and St Gabs are undersubscribed schools.
MS has balloting for 2B (for those >2km) -- so Cherrygal and myself had to go through the balloting process.
MS has balloting for 2C (for 1 to 2km) -- so i think you would have auto been 'eliminated' if you had left your name down at MS and you stay out of range.
St Gabs under 2B all went in (if i rem correctly)
St Gabs had balloting for 2C (> 2km) - but not sure how many vacancies and applicants were in this range.
Going forward - i think you might see similar statistics as this year becos:-
1) MS is now a VERY CONVENIENT school with the opening of Bartley MRT station - so i feel pple who didnt consider that previously would have seriously consider this school henceforth.
2) St Gab had cut there class size this year (not sure if it was becos of the single session thingy) - but generally once they cut their class size - doubt they would increase again in the near future).
My 2cents.

[/quote]okay that is correct
for schools seldom ask for the kids' baptism - it is usually based on parents' church membership -

Is this true? Heard from someone that in NYPS, the class size is actually 31 or 32...
Why the extra 1 or 2... :? -
Busymom:
the extra one or two could be due to transfer in. standard size for P1 & 2 is 30. That is why their P1 registration intake is 390 = 13 classes x 30 eachverykiasu2010:

Plan B would be to go to a nearby your house school in 2C. If you cant get balloted into the catholic school in 2B (Im assuming you live out of 2km) - then there's no way you can get in in 2C (cos in 2C, balloting for SJIJ and MS are for those who live 1 to 2km)

So, my Plan B this year was to go to the hse near my house cos i live out of 2km for MS. But, since i got balloted in, didnt really tot abt Plan B liao. -
