Hi Seagal,
there's no SA1, but there's SA2.. i.e. the kids are exempted from mid-year exam but not the year end exam -
Hi Dicky,
Good that you have other non-academic activities for your DS. I just find it a pity if RSS's curriculum doesn't allow for a better balance unlike in some other primary schools. After all, our kids are spending a good 6 years there!
I think better dun pin too high hopes on the extra CCA....
cos the emphasis in RSS on CCAs seems to be more of those cultural aspect (such as chinese orchestra?).
btw, I was a former Fengshan Pri student. Dun remember them having such student support though, in my 6 years there...
constancet,
haha.... not much choice I guess.
Could you elaborate further on Fengshan Pri not having much student support during your days?
dicky,
I have heard of RSS asking a student who under-performed to transfer to another school since he can't cope. Are you aware if this is common practice in RSS? I find this kinda harsh....poor boy.
Oh my, are you sure this happened in RSS? RSS has not been achieveing good or outstanding performance for the PSLE in the past few years, so why shd they be asking under-performed boys to leave the school? Dun understand the logic.. -

Perhaps because RSS is SAP school, and that kids are been asked to transfer to neighbourhood school for his benefit if cant cope. This can be harsh, but can be ideal for the kids rather than do badly in PSLE and go Normal Technical Stream in Sec sch, and at the end ITE.Seagal:

We also been thru your situation when deciding which Pri sch as we knew DS was slow for his age back then. Hubby say 'Aiya, just go lah! Cannot cope then talk. Register nb school now or RSS later transfer to nb school is the same outcome. The difference is whether to let him try see can cope SAP sch at the start...'
We are thinking that if DS cannot cope in P3, stay back 1 year lah. Real world dun care when you get your degree or masters. One thing for sure that if this happens to DS, we will request that MOE or RSS to transfer DS to nb school of our choice.
These are our opinion only. We believe in DS well-being as top priority, over writing even what we decided for DS. Because parents may not be right all the time. Hope this helps....
