OIC.... paisehI was trying to find out if St Margaret's Secondary will be raising the COP for students of St Margaret's Primary since they held a briefing last year.
Till now, they have been admitting all students as long as they choose St Margaret's Secondary as their first choice school.

Can I check if i am a old girl from the school, what is the chance of getting into the school? I heard that they have a quota number and not all old girl will get into the school?
Can someone update me on the affliciation thing to secondary school? I thought the primary and secondary schools are afflicated? Are there any changes?
Thanks! -
I read from the moe website that being old girl from the school, we have to submit something to show that we are previous students there? Will it be report books or etc? Kindly advise. Thanks!

Hi Olivia
I think you will need to join the alumni in order to qualify for phase 2A(1) scheme. You must be a member by a certain date. Best is if you can check with the school admin directly. The admin manager (I think it’s still Dorothy) is very helpful.
Regarding your second question, yes, SMPSS is still affiliated to SMSS but just that the school has increased their cutoff point to 200(?) whereas previously it was more like a guaranteed placing as long as you are from SMPS.
Hope that helps. -
But am I right to say that if you are an old girl, you will definitely get in? Kindly advise. Btw, are you part of the alumni team? Thanks!

Ooh, I am rather disappointed by the COP cos I feel that it should be confirmed to get in. What say you? Cos when it comes to other school like CHIJ, they are confirmed will get in for sure from primary to secondary.

Hey but I just saw that they did say as long as first choice, the girls upon PSLE will get in right. So that’s a good thing after all. I think they set the criteria of 200 so that students will work hard for their PSLE.

Dear all,
I got this from the secondary school website. And this was the result. I think it is only when the child does not put SMSS as the first choice, then it will have to go through the COP of 200. Can someone kindly explain whether is this info correct?
For Secondary 1 Admission
Qns: What is the cut-off point for affiliated / non-affiliated students?
Ans: For affiliated students, there is no cut-off point. So long as St. Margaret’s is the first choice, the student will get a place. For non-affiliated students, the cut-off was 240 in 2008. -
Hi Olivia
if you are an old girl applying for SMPS for your kid, then based on past history, it is guaranteed. I believe you can check out the balloting history of the school in one of the threads in this forum. But of course, anything can happen in a freak year (just like we have freak floods these days  but the situation is really quite reassuring based on past trends)
For the secondary school, perhaps you need to wait till the meeting with the school in Sept (i though I recall some mums mentioning there was a session about this) regarding the affiliation and get those mums to help answer.
Sorry I don't have the exact details on this as I didn't really follow up. -
It's okie. Ponyo, you have been very helpful! Thank you so much!
Btw, is your child already registered in SMPS?
