these tuition thingy to me is unimaginable a few years ago … many go for the tuition not because they are weak, but because they want to really excel and score high high or perfect, and do mental gymnastic with all they learnt…

I found out quite a number of her classmates attend tuition for all subjects (except ss). Just wondering when is it necessary to attend tuition ? Has become a norm to attend tuition irregardless of results ? For GEP, are marks ranging from mid 70s - mid 80s still considered ok ?
Depending on the subject, mid 70s - mid 80s is quite alright. You should be given a breakdown of the highest, lowest and median score in the cohort and so long as your child is around average and not too far down the bottom it should be fine. Not everyone can excel in every subject. In fact, it is very uncommon to have a child excel in every subject. If a child is scoring near baseline or below baseline for most of his subjects the teacher will be paying very special attention to him. πŸ™‚

and save some money[/quote]We have so far not spend a single cent on tuition for my DS, and the threat of sending him to tuition was good enough to motivate him on doing better with his school work.

EL and CL is typical around 70-80 and high 80s for science and maths in GEP.
