crescent has been in band one for five years already,so why isnt it a hot choice???? i mean schools like mgs and scgs and cedar dont exactly get band one
may be scgs and mgs and cedar have a much longer tradition and school culture compared wtih cgs ? sound insane ? -
verykiasu2010:
they can DSA out to those new IP schools if they qualify
Sec1 & Sec2 students already chosen the secondary schools will be affected if they don't include good secodnary schoolsDadOfGirl:

\"better\" students always have their first pick of schools when come to S1 posting process, so no worry, they choose first before anyone else
no stopping them[/quote]I don't think it will be allowed...otherwise there will be flurry of activites to trasnfer to these 7 schools.
I know currently SEC2 can DSA to JC , but with this annoucement, there will be strig attached as to they cannot pick students from other sec schools who are left out of this phase -

You are right....that means schools that used to have comparable quality in students intake but didn't get IP status this round is in an unfair disadvantage.

Wheareas for previous round, it is less unfair because schools like RI and HCI are clearly a big gap ahead the rest. For this round, there are simply too many schools of similar comparable standard, if you give IP to one but not the other...it is kind of a little unfair. -

Running IP requires a lot resources from the school, especially so if the new IP schools are going to run dual tracks and allow switching in between. I think besides past academic results, how strong a desire the Sec school itself wishes to run IP plays an important part. I don't think MOE will \"assign\" the IP schools on their own. The schools themselves have to put up a proposal to apply for it first. -

school transfer is norm, they (new IP school)....don't pick, they just say all are welcome to apply

But if these better students choose to go to non-IP schs, i don't think we can classify them as being \"deprived of IP opportunity\" if their schs are subsequently not chosen to go IP.
Then wouldn't the supposedly \"better\" students be deprived of IP opportunity?WeiHan:

Don't think PSLE COP is a major point of consideration when determining if a sch should go IP. -

It will change because of below quote

Agree, even at primary school level. Students strong in sports or academic transfer to more popular schools midway from neighbourhood schools.

SCGS has been a Band One school for many many years. More than 7 years I believe. -

i am a newbie here, but please do note that CEDAR is the only school that NEVER EVER missed BAND 1 in the ranking of School with O level students, SINCE it started in 2003 (i think), almost all other Schools like Victoria School, St. Nick, and even MSG missed at least 1 time (drop to 2 or 3) of course… the girls school did better than then Boys schools… VS is the better one already i think 5 years consecutive already… i think… SJI just attained band1 only Recently and only 1 time only (at most twice), and Catholic High fluctuates also btw 1,2,3 bands
