7 New IP schools

My compilation is from MOE's website. You may wish to correct my compilation if there are any errors.i cant remember very well exactly... even we maynot trust FULLY the 100% accuracy of VC mum replication....
i just remember across the years from 2003 to 2009... ONLY Cedar girls achieved Band 1 every year,....
other top schools MGS , etc or even Anderson especially boys school like VS and Cath High does goes ...down/fluctuate to band 2 or sometimes even 3 (OCCASIONALLY), it could be VS/ SJI / Cath high , i cant say for sure is Catholic High that reach Band 3 .... the girls schools drop down less... we need to do a back-check of all those exact data from all those years.

Not fair if these are the confirmed 7 new IP schools. Why are these all single gender schools? Why no mixed school/s selected in this round of 7 new schools?happymum8:

As I recall, Not since the previous Lady Principal who brought CHS' standard up before Lee Hak Boon was brought into the school in the past 6 years. She was the only female principal CHS has ever had, i think.

what so shocking lah... CJC results and COP had improved recently; mayb reporter from Raffles family too ... many people know the top students of CJC most from Catholic High or SJI... just like for VJC top students are mostly VS/Dunman/Cedar/TKGS and some SAP schools with no affiliated JC.....
Yes, they didn't mention in ST. But probably bc the fact that the president scholar came from CJC was so shocking to the reporter that he only reported that and forgot about which sec school that boy came from already. haha.tanbh:
Bystander... i find it very UNFAIR to CATHOLIC HIGH, produced 21st President Scholar... STraits TIMES didnt MENTION a single word.... and DIDNT even say from the new President scholar is CATH HIGH !!!!!!! if RI or RGS report till big big... i didnt even know e new president scholar is from CHS until i google (yesterday) for other stuff and BY ACCIDENT got into the CHS alum site!

The mentioned schools have lots of students qualifying for IP but instead choosen those schools for many reasons.
The standards of students are actually comparable to current IP schools.

One reason would be loyalty and fondness for their own school. Students who've spent 6 years in the primary school are torn about leaving their school.

Students want O level cert.
Cause if IP then do badly/fail A level,
got no cert.
So O level cert then will have something to fall back on -

(III) Expansion of the Integrated Programme
The Integrated Programme (IP) was introduced to provide clearly university-bound students with a broader educational experience. The initial batches of IP4 graduates have performed well. The feedback from IP students is that they enjoy the learning environment which has allowed them to stretch their intellectual potential, while equipping them for self-directed learning. MOE will expand the IP so that more university-bound students will benefit from an enriched educational experience.
MOE will expand the Integrated Programme to seven more secondary schools, namely, Victoria School, Cedar Girls’ Secondary School, Methodist Girls’ School, Catholic High School, CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, and St. Joseph’s Institution. These new IP schools will offer both IP and O-Level tracks, so that late-bloomers or those who find themselves better suited for the O-Level track can make lateral transfers. Temasek Junior College will also extend its four-year IP to a six-year programme beginning in Secondary 1. The expansion of the IP landscape, which will take effect from 2012 onwards, will allow our top talent to be nurtured in a more diverse group of schools.
Victoria School and Cedar Girls’ Secondary School will partner Victoria Junior College, and Methodist Girls’ School will partner Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) to offer the IP. St. Joseph’s Institution will expand to offer a six-year programme leading to the International Baccalaureate.
IP students from Catholic High School, CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School and Singapore Chinese Girls’ School will progress to a new Government junior college to be set up by 2017. Details on the new junior college will be provided later.
Students who wish to join the IP after some time in their secondary schools can also apply to these new IP schools at Secondary 3. There will continue to be sufficient access for non-IP students to enter the various junior colleges that will have IP student intakes.
