7 New IP schools

What is the quota of IP in-take at each new IP school. Did news say sometihing like 50 for VS & Cedar ? Getting into the school does not mean automatically go IP track. Just as in ACS(I) there is a cut-off. so it depend on the vacancy run in that school.

The principal of scgs is a proven leader having worked with the current principal of cat high during her successful stinct at xinmin. The board of scgs must have taken all factors into consideration. Should await details from moe regarding the new jc. The current principals of st nick and cat high are highly capable and these three leaders are able to draw on their experiences to come out with new initiatives for the students. No worries.

the 50 for VS and Cedar is for 2011 Sec 1 batch (when the IP has not even started) becos they will start their IP in Sec 3 in 2013 -

he mentions that \"The pupil to teacher ratio will be improved as we increase the teaching force. From 20:1 in 2009 to 15:1 in 2015 for primary schools and 17:1 to 14:1 for secondary schools. \"
:? Is he talking about class size? Is he refering to GEP classes or IP-schs? My DS in neighbourhood pri sch never see ratio of less than 30:1. My DD in Sec 1 is ratio of 40:1. Did i misread / misunderstand that sentence?

Cedar currently has about 1300 students, according to their website. Divide that by 4 to get the number per level and about half of that taking IP, I would say at least 160 for IP, around 160 non-IP when their IP programme kicks in fully? But then, it really depends on the quality of the results for those who apply there. -

Currently NJC already has more girls than boys, 2:1 , I heard. May be scgs can pair up wiht SJI at yr 5&6.why can't they lump the Cath schs together and do IB from yr5 on.
SCGS can lump with NJC since abt the same location and both non-religious. -

The IP is to stem brain drain. But with this arrangement, I also do not think it will solve the brain drain problem. The better ones will still leave SCGS. But SCGS will become a even more popular school for P1 registration since there is a safety net now. The P still has a tough battle to fight.
I'm thinking there might be more of a brain drain now from SCGS because the IP programme isn't that attractive and students will start thinking of leaving for even MGS or Cedar if they can't make RGS/NYGH. At least for the pioneer batch until the new JC proves itself.mrschan:
Dun get me wrong. I am not implying that sngs and cat high quality is not on par with scgs. I wouldjust prefer a partnership with a more estb institute. I noe how it is to be a poineering batch. Yes it is exciting and challenging but it can also be distracting and disorganised.
I guess SC's hands are tied. On one hand we want Ip status badly to stem brain drain yet on the other hand we have no affiliation to any jcs. So I guess we have to make do with this solution. Sigh... -

even for GEP class, it is max 25 per class
