      Hi Janet,

You mean your gal is having time table as spelling?? :!: Your gal now K2?

Yes, her time-table is her spelling. Fortunately it is from RC.
      She is in K2.

      Hi Janet,

Can I just ask, how did the RC teach your gal the time table? By pure recitation? I've tried to teach by DS by reciting the time table too, but I could progress after 3x tables. He would always forgot the old ones whenever I teaches him the new ones... And I would have to revise with him often, if not, he will forget everything. :stupid:

Actually... I personally think it's better to teach times table by logic first rather than memorisation. So that it can register better and the kids understands the logic behind that and is able to apply.

I didn't make my P3 and P2 memorise time table in preschool. They pick it up gradually after understanding the logic.

During our times, we learnt time tables by recitation, so I thought my DS could learn it through this way... I think he doesn't have the interest cos I know his memory is good, he can recite several Chinese poems (taught by the childcare teacher), which I couldn't, but not the time tables. šŸ˜ž That's why I stopped and didn't continue beyond the 3x tables.

During our time, we had to memorize by heart. Looks like this method is fool-proof. She has learnt 2x, 3x, and 4x. Tomorrow's class will be tested on 5x. I also bought the time-table chart to paste on the wall...good for girl and son who's in P4.

Honestly, I just get her to learn it and hopefully it will stick in her head.
She doesn't have to learn the whole thing, just 5 lines up to 5x5 for eg.
