COP still needs to meet the std of close to 255 and above in order to secure an IP school. So just work hard to aim for this score and there will be more choices for school.

does this mean that eg if a girl who scored 250 may not be able to get IP at CGS (if more than half of her cohort at cgs scored above 250), but a girl who scored 240 may get IP at SCGS (no disrespect, just eg) if half of her cohort at scgs scored below 240)?
does it mean that choosing a \"so called IP school\" but in the end is not a certain/ gurantee to be in the \"IP class\"
then i reckon there will hassles/problems of \"transferring school issues\"

if cohort refer to students who chose SCGS for their sec1, yes.
besides this, there is dsa, where every wholesaler also keeps a few fishes in his pocket - for sale to preferred customers. the prices of dsa fishes are independent of the normal bidding process.

in that case, there is a higher chance to get IP by choosing an IP school with lower entry point[/quote]One possible confusion, when the new IP schools run dual trak, they may or may not have exactly half of their Sec 1 intake be put into IP track. You can look at ACSI model, they have less than half of their Sec 1 cohort doing IB. Those in O Level track still have chance to move over to IB in Sec 3.

As for \"higher chance to get IP by choosing an IP school with lower entry point\", I think parents will also have to look into each school's actual IP programme. Not all IP programmes are the same. Many factors come into play when choosing a school, not just about chance of getting into IP track in Sec 1. The COP is usually higher for \"better\" schools, right?

Just to answer some queries regarding the advantages of being from affilation pris.

Those from the above still need to meet the min score ie 250 to be eligible for the IP prog. For non affilation pupils it depends on the popularity of the schs, min within 10% of the cohort. Therefore, min T-score 250 for affilation and 250 or higher for others. All those unable to meet this requirement hve to take the 0-level track.

As for entry to their respective jcs, the affilation bonus 2pts(those minority frm 0-level) and easily be neutralise by using Hmt. So for ousiders, there are still many opportunities.

What I am trying to say is that the school probably knows what kind of students are suitable for IP track, the decision point need not be exactly half of their Sec 1 intake. Of course, for late bloomers, they will do well in Sec 1 and 2 and still have chance to move to IP track. That's the \"beauty\" of the dual tracks system.

This is certainly a strange arrangement. But to me is not so much of the culture or religion aspects since Singapore is a multiracial, multi-religious country. The thing that I am more concern is whether it will be a homogeneous group with similar standard.
Correct me if my info is wrong. The COP for affiliated students to get into CHS and St Nick is around 230-235 each year whereas SCGS is 200. There is a 30 to 35 points different. Unless they adjust the COP to be around the same, otherwise it could be quite difficult for them to achieve similar standard in year 5.
i think no need to worry because those that can go IP will all have similar minimum t-score

                    Wat's CMI? :scratchhead:

All the Catholic mission schools were 'affiliated' with CJC.
In its infancy, everyone of the students were from mission schools.
SJI, St Pats, CHIJ, KC form the bulk of these students.
CHS students, though a Catholic brethen, were quite misfits there then.
\"misfit\" because CHS has been a SAP school, while the rest of the Cath schools are not

correct me if i am wrong

CHS is not the only SAP School among the Catholic Schools. St Nics, Maris Stella are also SAP Schools.
