7 New IP schools
-
jtoh:
this one is guranteed.....
Hi Augmum,Augmum:
thks jtoh.
yes, there shd be some guidelines of the COP for the IP class set by individual schools....
just that i am quoting forumer kiaaik who have posted an example....
what if the guideline for COP for \"A school\" and \"B school\" a difference of 10 points or so ......
then there'll bound to have some \"transferring of school issues\"
Yes, there will probably be people who aren't happy and will think of transferring. More headaches in store for the school admins and parents.
I guess parents will have to look at historical scores and make an educated guess from it. And also at the school culture etc. At the end of the day, I think school culture's more important. And if you just barely miss the COP for IP, just work harder in the existing school and get in at Year 3.

I think we r talking different era.i personally dont find Cath High (or MSHS) boys r Ching CHong types ... but some of Hwa Chong are.....many are from average families just , many are also not catholic in religion, just that some parents hope them to have better command /background in CL... btw HCI is NOT catholic school ok.....
all have similar Chinese style heritage... those silver huge buttons on uniform etc....
d mix has changed.
Many CHS boys actually preferred HCJC to CJC then cos' of
d Chinese heritage continuity n similar environment.
Even HCI (Chinese High then)'s environs hv changed towards
more being English-spoken. -

wah the 7 listed IP schools....so I am right to call them the IPO schools......lol
Good call :celebrate:
Then all with common understanding need not go into
details differentiating 'pure' IP schools with dual track IP schools.
ACS(I) should also be on dat IPO list. -
Way2GO:
c'mon, is there really a need to make such differentiation? we are already very \"messy\" than choosing primary schools...as someone has pointed out earlier. :lol:verykiasu2010:

question here…
how will njc and tjc sec 1 intake like in terms of percentage?
do they have uniformed groups to join? -
verykiasu2010:
must be talented. $$$ won't help in DSA process but can help to produce the talent required
So DSA means you must have some 'special skills' or 'talent' or is it your folks must be super rich or well-known?vicki:
yes, can. why not ?
talent = national champions for sports, or at least in the national team
talent = CONSISTENTLY good academic results from P4 onwards, say all subjects in the high 90s usually of well known pri schools
talent = extremely good in specified area of arts and music, eg minimum ABRSM grade 7 at Pri 5 and passed Theory Grade 5, or recognised by (eg) UOB painter of the year type .......
These r for common folks lah.
u really think those super rich or super power has no such privilege if
they can more or less justify it?
Remember a fellow forummer said 'keep a few fish in d pocket'?

when i look at dunman high and river valley high year 5 and year 6…they seem to have a much smaller pool of students when compared with ri (jc) and hci (jc)…this means it will be difficult to compete in ccas, sports and games…
duman high and river valley high extended their sec school to have pre-u 1 and 2, while ri and hci merge with already established jcs…a lot of difference! -

:scratchhead:
wat talking u?
d differentiation is already there by virtue
of d way d 'pure' IP schools n dual track IP schools r organized n run. -

Cedar was a natural IP-candidate for Victoria 'cos almost like 3/4 of the girls go to VJC each year. And these IP ppl came to Cedar ytd and told them Cedar naughty girl, so must marry her to Victoria. :rotflmao:
you are right in a way ... BUT Cedar's standard is good especially if u consider their COP isnt very high... yet no one doing O levels can beat them in L1R5...in terms of consistency.... and Victoria has good name and tradition by VS / VJCkiaaik:
reading today's ST report made me feel that Cedar is very lucky....VS brother (VJC) said VS must get a galfren...so VS went to woo Cedar...
Cedar accepted proposal, it is like kena Toto without even buying it..
another possible candidate for VS is TKGS, but i think that was earlier era during 60s-70s era when many TKGS gals went to VS pre U...but i guess most Victorian old boys current batches from 80s onwards would prefer to partner and galfren Cedar... VS was quite near Cedar in the previous site and the unofficial bro-sis school status between VS - Cedar had been quite long already.
So i wonder if the current Cedar girls now get 2 bonus pts to get into VJC after their O lvls? -

Sorry in terms of what percentage?question here..

Anyway the TJC sec 1 will only start in 2013. Right now they have an IP pgm called Temasek Academy which takes in students from Sec 3 onwards. The intake is about 70. Currently TJC dont hv uniformed grps. Not sure if they will change when they take in Sec 1s in the future.
