Cheers for caveman! At least now u can relax as well.

Best of luck for others who will still undergo balloting. Try to bring/wear any items that you feel or believe will bring you luck. Coz i did it on the day of balloting under p2c. And it worked for us!

Think positive and pray, but nevertheless prepare a backup plan

            tankee:
Every year the cut off is different as it depends on the number of applicants, the contribution and years of membership of these applicants and the number of places that the schools and the clan agreed to give.

Some says distance to school may be a factor too. As the clan may not give out to those staying too fast as they simply do not stand any chance and will deny other member that chance.
            Hi tankee,
so do you think it is worth it to join the clan for Tao Nan. I do not stay that near to it and have no old boy old girl status, what are the chances if I do not do any parent volunteering?

              I am not tankee... 😉

But, based on this year's statistics, regardless whether you are in P2B or P2C, balloting was only for those staying less than 1 km from the school.

So, if you stay more than 1 km away from the school, your chance in getting a place in the school is as good as zero.

Oh my goodness!! That bad?..Sigh, Double sigh, do you know of any other good schools in that area, I heard that Ngee Ann Primary is not too bad too.

So for most parents who send their kids to Tao Nan, they either do lots of parent volunteering or they move to be within 1 km of Tao Nan? Tks qms for your help!

To increase ur chance of getting in, you should do PV and move within 1km. But do note - this is for a chance to be included in the balloting - so there might be a chance that you do not get in and hence waste your time doing the PV and waste your $$ shifting.

So, do consider carefully be4 embarking on this plan.

I heard from my colleague that Ngee Ann Primary is also a good school. Perhaps you would like to make a trip to the school to look at the environment, and speak to somebody there, in order to help you gain a better understanding of the school?

Yes, like what Vicki said, to get into Tao Nan, you must not only do lots of volunteer work, you must also move to within 1 km of the school. There are so many new developments around that area, in addition to those that are already there.

In addition, please note that moving within 1 km of the school means you will be given a chance to participate in the balloting. It doesn't guarantee you will get in to the school.

Assuming you have performed 60 hours of PV work, and another parent has performed 40 hours of PV work. Both of you stay within 1 km. You will not be given any advantage either. When it comes to balloting, all PVs/grassroot leaders/clan members staying within 1 km will be treated equally.

So, at the end of the day, it depends on how much risk you want to take. How far is your house from Ngee Ann Pri?

                      Hi Vicki and qms,

Thanks so much for the feedback. I stay at Amber Road area. Is it too far? I was thinking of moving nearer Tao Nan but after hearing your feedback, am really hesitant, it is not a 'guaranteed' solution it seems.

For Ngee Ann, I also heard good feedback from friends but am wondering
if it is also so popular like Tao Nan, if so it will be so hard to get in 😞

My older boy did not get into either of these schools.

Amber Road....So, you should be in the 1-2 km category?

Since you have heard good reviews about Ngee Ann Pri, why don't you consider this school? If you are available to perform PV work, why not apply as a PV for Ngee Ann instead?

When it comes to registration, what you can do is to register your younger child in the same school as your older child in Phase 1, and then monitor the situation. You should have a good chance of getting your younger child into Ngee Ann if you are PV.

As for Tao Nan, it depends on how big a risk taker you are.
