• RE: Comparing English Enrichment Programmes

      Hi,

Anyone has any information about TAS’s education trail at Nex Shopping centre?
I heard they are having an education trail something like a maths and science trail from another friend but she is also not sure about the information. Anyone knows about this?

If a child is not in your normal classes, would he or she be disadvantaged if the majority of the class for NSA are from your existing classes?
my P3 enjoyed her science lessons and went on to score well in her SA2. They do experiments in class, etc... so some of those section B questions become closer to heart..

Hi MMM, where do you send your DD for science tuition?

She used to go to extra edge but unfortunately, the school closed down. We are making arrangements with her science teacher to give her private tuition with another friend. As I feel that it's better to learn science in a group rather than 1-1 setting.
Do you have this teacher's contact? Do you think you could pm it to me? Tks! πŸ˜„

      Hi,

I read somewhere about a spelling bee programme and write a book programme that TAS has. Anyone has more information about it?

Have you tried National Geographic? I bought it after some mummy here recommended it and I find it very good, the pictures are really nice and the information simple and yet captivating. My kids look forward to every issue.

      Hi chamonix,

Can I ask if your child is at TAS, or did your child used to be taught by the TAS ex teacher in school? How did she recommend the materials to you? So good..I also want, so far, I only met the administrator. Did you make an appointment?

      Hi Hellokitty2,

I would have enrolled my kids with TAS if I had got to know about the centre earlier. Unfortunately, we were in the midst of preparing for our overseas stint when we met up with TAS. Even then, we went there with the intention of buying books only. One thing just led to another.

Actually, TAS has shared a lot in their posts under the Langauge, Speech and Drama Section. Some of the resources they recommended me, such as Improve Your English by Usborne, can also be found there. πŸ™‚

      Hi chamonix,

Oh I see, thanks so much for sharing with me..I do notice that their posts are very good, they seem to have a lot of knowledge and they share very generously. I will go and check out more. Where are you based now?

I had bought it few years ago. It cost about $150 for 3 volume. Title is call:

      Creative Mathematics
Heuristic Approach to Problem-Solving (Elementary) 2nd Edition.
      Recommended for Primary 1 - 4.

That is good! I remember my mom using it to teach me.

Popular used to have those cards box thing where they named them

SETA, B and C and they have questions posted there and a solution book?

I used it quite vigorously in Pri School and found that it helped me!

Was it your ex-teacher (TAS) who recommended you the cards? She recommended me the same set too. I have been looking high and low for them but to no avail 😞

Let me know if you come across them. Thanks!
Hi chamonix,

      Hi,

From what I know, they say they will only sell at TAS but in the future maybe they would carry at other bookstores. However, that is tentative and for now it is only sold at TAS.

For me, I am very amazed that their P1 and P2 students can write so well! I really got a shock  But they said that the book is more suitable for P3 onwards so the P1s/2s chosen for this book are the higher ability kind.

I still bought although my kid only in p2, cos I think I can use it to guide in the right direction and make me know what is possible for a P2.

It is one of the best writing books out there, in my opinion.
