      Hellokitty2:
...So lots of PV should help? Guess I better do that for Ngee Ann. Thanks so much for your help qms.

Not sure what you meant by \"lots of PV should help\". As I mentioned earlier, if you are in the 1-2 km category, there is no difference between you and another parent in the same distance category within a phase whether you perform 40 hours or 60 hours of PV. Do you understand what I am trying to say?

        Hi qms,

Sorry but am quite confused, does it make a difference if I do and dont do at all, so lets say I do 0 hours and another does 50 hours and if it comes to balloting, there is no difference?

            Hi Hellokitty2,

If i rem correctly - MOE's rules are that you must do at least 40hours of PV. Depending on your school of choice, they might increase it to 60hrs? 80hrs?. Eg: I think Nanyang Primary stipulates 80 hours.

The number of hours to be clocked is determined bythe school - so if you clock below their requirements, you will not qualify for PV phase, even if you had performed eg: 10hrs.

Within that phase (aka Phase 2B), you would be fighting with clan pple and grassroots pple. So then they will determine by distance, 1km, 1 to 2km and >2km to \"allocate\" the seats.

Of course it makes a difference!

If you don't clock at least 40 hours or the min. length of time stipulated by the school, you don't qualify under P2B.

What I was saying is this. Assuming the school requires you to clock 40 hours to qualify for P2B. If you perform 40 hours (i.e. the minimum just to qualify for P2B), and you stay within 1 km from the school, you will not be at an disadvantage compared to another parent staying within 1 km from the school, but has performed 60 hours of PV work. Clearer? :scratchhead:

                Hi Vicki,

Thanks so much for the detailed explanation. So now I know every school
would require at least 40 hours. That is not too bad. But Nanyang's 80
hours is a killer, good thing that is not one of my choices šŸ˜„ Do you know
how early we can start doing PV? Must all the house be clocked in
one year or can be be spread over 2 years?

I get it now, thanks so much qms for trying so hard to explain PV's finer points with me. Haha, I have never done PV before but now must try to chiong for younger one.

                    any information abot TKP

                    Hi tokyo,

My older boy is in TKPS, I am not putting my younger one in there as I want a school that is a bit more academic for him, in the sense that it pushes him academically. For TKPS, I feel they do not do that enough. However, what I like about TKPS is the wide range of CCAs, they have bowling, cricket, golf.
And there are many students there from Korea, from all over the world actually so DS gets to interact with them, I like the multi-national feeling.

But I still wish it is more chiong in studies like Tao Nan, so it depends on what you want.

Was your child born in 2005? If so, it's too late to apply for PV now. Application is now closed for those registering next year.

ALAMAK!! too late, I thought since he is in K1, there is still time.
So wasted. Now looks like I must pump with tuition like DS1.

know what to do next time, sign up for PV when he is 3!
