My DD said there’s a maths test on next tuesday on topic "Time" but when I ask her whether Teacher had taught text book chapter 16 - Time page 84-90, she replied did not teach. There were also no maths workbook worksheets homework given for this one week school holiday.

The debate I heard from fellow parents are also very different and ... please pardon me to say .... interesting. Some parents say its a poor excuse to get parents to spent quality time with kids teaching a simple topic, some say its new innovative way to expose kids towards independent learning, some say its a tactic to ensure kids not to slacken off during holidays etc.
Having say this, kids these days are really not having it easy.....

if you ask me, i dont think joining those supposedly certified coaches will help. yes, they may have more experience. but talk about improvements, and swimming fast, I could do good too.

Hi,Thanks but if its the way RSS is planning by E-learning and Teachers just by clearing the syllabus then all parents are forced to engage Tuition centres to Really teach the syllabus to the children.
In the end all schools can close and not needed as Tuition centres will take over the role and best of all, children can attend the tuition classes at the most comfortable time.
Parents are not teachers. Quality time with children cannot be spent teaching subjects which are to be learnt from the schools. A school is a school, a home is a home. A teacher is a teacher, a parent is a parent. Parents love unconditionally, I've yet heard of teachers who teach unconditionally ... For now, I only heard they are paid salaries workers where parents and tuition centres have to come in to help them do their jobs.dicky:

I see your point. Yeap, once in a while is ok. 1st time this year, hopefully the last. No different to us since DS very slow due to ADHD. Every nite roller-coaster emotionally trying to teach him same topic using different logic....

i'm also ok to have this kind of learning so long as is once or twice a yr and of course the topics must not be too difficult for us to teach and for them to understand

I too felt it is alright. I believed the school / teacher only select the easy topic. The time topic only includes "o’clock" and "half past" … just 2 concept …
