I am actually quite ok to have this kinda learning once in a while. Let the kids be independent for awhile. But of cos, not for all the topics...
Eh? Not too sure get the message right. Though don't tink that is the idea. The circular did mention the rationale for a test on this un-taught topic. Yet I'm skepticalpeter20166:
The topic \"time\" is not taught,,, YET they are supposed to learn through e-learning via lead.com. So you mean P1 children so clever? They do not need to be taught, they can own self learn and sit for test!!! In future, all P1 children can stay at home and learn through e-learning, no need go school to learn. These GENIUS children all learnt through e-learnung and can go sit for school's tests and exams, so no need to employ TEACHERS anymore ... No wonder tuition centres are a BOOMING industry ...
The debate I heard from fellow parents are also very different and ... please pardon me to say .... interesting. Some parents say its a poor excuse to get parents to spent quality time with kids teaching a simple topic, some say its new innovative way to expose kids towards independent learning, some say its a tactic to ensure kids not to slacken off during holidays etc.
Having say this, kids these days are really not having it easy.....

I see your point. Yeap, once in a while is ok. 1st time this year, hopefully the last. No different to us since DS very slow due to ADHD. Every nite roller-coaster emotionally trying to teach him same topic using different logic....

i'm also ok to have this kind of learning so long as is once or twice a yr and of course the topics must not be too difficult for us to teach and for them to understand

I too felt it is alright. I believed the school / teacher only select the easy topic. The time topic only includes "oβclock" and "half past" β¦ just 2 concept β¦

That is the point, looks like we have many parents out there who agree to teach children their studies and/or expect the young children to own self learn. So the school can so relax liao lor, and when the children results no good, they blame children don't learn. When parents send children to tuition to do better than what the schools can teach, people criticise parents kiasu. So parents always so obedient to the schools. Whether it is a simple 1 plus 1 equal 2 topic or not, a easy or not easy thing to do, in the first place, parents job to teach school subjects is not right, if not go school for what. And what about those lowly educated parents who don't know how to teach and also poor to send children to tuition?
Also like saying, you employ a maid and your maid cannot do housework, you must help her to do your housework, no logic leh ... -

The marks for the \"time test\" is not calculated .. just an assessment to see how much the children know.highchair:

The teacher are now teaching the SAME time subject in school.
When you employ a maid... do you expect your maid to do EVERYTHING?
