In any case, one year’s t-score is NOT comparable with any other years : the questions are different, though the mean, median, SD may fluctuate within a certain band.

the whole business of the t-score is to rank one student against ALL his peers in the same cohort and that is it - to determine what is his position among the 40,000+ candidates, and the t-score is in 15 (not 13) decimal places.

this year’s 285 may be of higher / lower aggregate marks than any other years. there is no comparison

if everyone scores full marks for every subject, the perfect t-score is 200, because the mean = median, and SD = zero

I used to advise my friends then, to interpret the T-score as a simple gauge on whether are their kids' performing above or below the average. A T-score of 200 is the average score, regardless of the year, type of papers or actual scores.

I think trying to get a T-score from raw marks is error prone because it does not take into account SD nor the difficulty of the paper/ standard of the school. It’s probably more accurate to measure how many SDs the raw score is from the school mean, and adjust for the school mean Tscore. The school T-score performance tends to be fairly stable. Can estimate the school’s mean T-score for each subject by looking that the number of A/A* which schools often publish and comparing it with the national average which is also publicly available.

of course when the well established pri schools provide the t-scores for their Pri 5 and Pri 6 SA / prelim results, they are based on the establised t-score formula used by MOE, with the school's mean, SD etc etc; and these schools also chart their own internal t-score versus the actual achieved by the kids at PSLE....literally they track the kids by name, for those schools doing a good job at it

I think RV is a very good school because it \"value-add\" alot. During my kids' time, many top students in RJ came from RV after O level. They are very strong in their sciences.
