As long as you have been a member for the last 18 months, you can approach the church for a letter. The kids need not be baptized. My kids grew up in a Methodist Church and none are baptized yet - they are all in Methodist schools now.

Still a tough ballot ahead for Ai Tong and for the more popular SHHK schools, you gotta serve at least 4 years as a member before they will give you the letter to take part in Phase2B. Getting endorsed by a fellow member to get in is only the first step. Those eyeing SHHK schools had better call SHHK to ask about this minimum period of service.

My friend aiming for AiTong joined SHHK when her son was only 1 year old. Thats what u call long-term planning..

I think the child must be baptised and a member of the church. Just approach your Pastor and ask directly. Or you can ask the church office. Depending on your church, they might require you to be more active in the different ministries. Just approach the church office or Pastor to ask.

Am wondering - what if the child is baptised and active in Sunday School but the parents are not baptised. Would the Methodist church issue the letter?

that wld be a rather strange situation. AFAIK, even for child baptism (Methodist church), it's the parents who have to attend the course on child baptism. So I wld believe the parents MUST be members before they can commit their children to the church. Makes sense, right?

P.S. Just remembered...it's the parent(s) who need to be member of the Methodsit church in order to get the letter from the church. The child baptized or otherwise is irrelevant.

I thought people do not 'suka-suka' get baptised into a religion ?
