Does anyone kids attend the Supercamp before? Is it effective in motivating kids? Just wonder how much it is different from others like Mindchamp.

I think supercamp is the one managed by Ernest Wong. There is also a similar one run by Adam Khoo. I was told, Adam was trained by Ernest previously. If the objective is to improve a child’s motivation, I have mixed feeings about all of them - some told me the "effect" lasted less than 1 year, therefore you need to go for "refresher" to re-motivate again. Best to check around with people who has gone through - that’s what i did.

Yep, it’s true the effects last for a short while only. In my daughter’s case, she was with Mindedge in Sec3 and was very motivated. Her grades improved within 1 term and I was so impressed, I send a thank you email to the centre.

But, 2 terms later, her grades are back to before. And now that she’s in JC, the centre didn’t even have the decency to call and ask how she fared in her Os.

In short, they’re only interested in your money. So, spend wisely. Must admit though that some skills like note-taking have stayed with her.

            mahsparks & westmom,

thanks for the feedback. That is my concern also, temporary effect. Actually, I am looking for holiday programme (like holiday camp) that can help to build the social skill (EQ) for my son. Do you have any recommendation?

There’s many holiday programmes that are available though may not be EQ emphasis. Take your time to google or get info from parenting magazines and you will find it. If he’s interested in science, go to science camps…etc

send my nephew to super camp by another centre that cost abt $2000 when he was 12 . he was struggling with his work . now he is 19 . frankly . looking back , it was a complete waste and i wont send my own kids in future . I think it is a combination of factors that contribute to a person’s success . and i think the family guidance n influence is key .
