Hi everybody. I have been reading the posts on P1 registration and seriously, there is no perfect school in Singapore. You simply need to find what environment best suits your child's personality and most importantly, she is happy in the environment.
Agree 100%. There is no perfect school, and even if there is, our kids may not fit in. My younger daughter's personality will not fit into Pei Hwa, or I would have just registered her there under Phase 1. -

MOE does not allow $$$ to buy a place in a school of choice -

If your \"PR\" friend is doing PV in multiple schools, she deserves her hard-earned prorioty vs those who didn't contribute their time. There's no need to feel upset. Even as a PV, the PR is still subject to 1 less ballot than citizens in 2B. Where does the unfairness come from, whether she chooses to convert her kid to citizen eventually or not?I had a friend who is a PR and is doing PVs for 2 schools... and having no intentions to convert her childrens to citizens? how fair is this for citizens? :x :x :x

As for buying a place in school, I've also heard a top school accepts 100k to buy a spot, although personally I don't know of anyone who actually did it (and would they really tell you if they did it?
) Either way, it doesn't make it less guilty if it was a citizen who's doing rather than a \"PR\".

The primary school registration is getting parents like myself very stressed up. Even if you are accepted as volunteer, a place in the school may also not be guaranteed esp if we live beyond 1 km. While children registered under phase 1 to 2A are guaranteed places in the school.
:? Was wondering why if MOE is so concern that students live near the school, why the home-school proximity criteria doesn't even apply to phase 1 to 2A where their places are guaranteed. Why then is the home-school proximity the paramount criteria for phase 2B and beyond?
Very ironical that a child living beyond 2 km or further get a place in the school under phase 2A and a child living within a km doesn't under phase 2B/C.
And to add salt to the wound, we parents have to sweat 40hrs to be in phase 2B, while under phase 2A, the parents didn't even need to do
any voluntary work. Have tried checking with MOE but yet to receive their answer on this . Did any of you ever check with MOE on this? Can share respond from MOE? -
distance only come in play when there are more applicants than vacancies available.
So far, this has only happened in phase 2B onwards.
I do not think any of us would like to see any school running out of places in phase 1 or even 2A. -

Kids enjoy priority under 2A because their parents are former students of the school. Or else either their parent is a staff of the school. -
