My DS also in ICR @ Rivervale mall. He is in PRP and just completed 2 terms there. Me too, noticed the reception lady always wearing the BIG diamond ring and she doesn't seem approachable and friendly. But I still send DS there due convience, for shorter travel distance.

Teacher in charge is okay as my son enjoys going there. The only thing is the teacher does not update you the child progress, unless you ask. Also, I do not know what has been taught in the lesson and unable to do revision with DS at home. What I did is using some phonics books purchased from the popular to teach him, hope in this way, he can pick up faster.......

Ur son currently in PRP? Which class is he attending? My gal is in the thurs class.

U r right, usually i dun know what is being taught in class. Dun think the assessment book is relevant? Also, till now i dun really know the purpose of the plastic folder that was given to her. Only know that if she managed to answer some qns correctly, the teacher will stamp on it.

DS first started in TCS. Within a month, moved up to PRP. He has just completed 2 terms with ICR (SK) under the same teacher teacher - Cindy a nice lady. However, usually she doesn't feedback how the child fare during the lesson, unless you ask her. I can only see the the paper in the plastic folder stamp with \"terrific\" or \"keep it up\", I don't know if the whole class gets the same remark or different...... His lesson is on every sunday.....

any idea if progress reports will be given by the teachers so we will know how our child is doing?? i know LCentral giving these reports..

So far, after completed 2 terms, there is no progress report given out at ICR@SK.

so we have to keep asking the teacher how is our child progressing??

i asked the teacher after class and she gave generic answers like ok, good, participating, all is well..

cannot keep bugging the teacher after every lesson right??

          Hi all,

My DS attends I Can Read at Woodlands. He just got promoted to ICR programe about a month ago. You are right that the teachers didn't really give update on the child's progress regularly. But they do give a brief progress report after about 1 1/2 term. :? But it's real brief that I don't understand it and had to check with the teacher when my DS was in PRP. It's a standard form or checklist that the teacher will tick on it.

Now he is in ICR, oh my, the textbook is so difficult. And the teacher has to complete 3 stories in 1 lesson. Sometimes, I wonder is this good or bad for the children... :?

I Can Read places my daughter in TCS and the teacher seemed a bit ‘cold’… my daughter loves the teacher in LCentral (Foundations programme trial class) and the teacher really got her to ‘speak up’ and she did much more beta during assessment in LCentral as compared to I Can Read… so… dilemma!!

              Hi,

For my end in ICR@AMK, the term report in the paper is given out at the end of the term for PRP and ICR.

Yes, it is quite true, the teacher does not feedback about the progress of the kid. But sometime, some teacher will try to ask to speak the parent if the kid does not progress well.

IF the child like the Lcentral course, i think that from my opinion, should try to place the kid in the course. If the kid like the class, i think that they will perform better. This is only my thinking.

                  Hi,

I am not very sure if all the ICR are good but I went to check out the Newton one and liked their curriculum and the admin staff was very patient in explaining things.

For my girl, she is also the cannot sit still type. But I think from what they say, they will be able to engage her. I have heard a lot of success stories about ICR from my friends so I think it should be good. I have not signed up yet, still looking around but ICR is definitely a top choice.

                    Hi staypositive

Understand that your child went to ICR, is it the Bt Timah centre?

If yes, can share w me your opinion.
I went to the assessment at ICR - Bt Timah for my 6yrs old boy. He need to attend the TCS level...
Can you advise which teacher is better? Current there are 3 teachers for TCS level, Ms Priya, Isabelle and Raquel. Have you came across these teachers.

                    Thanks
                    Hi Leoleo18

Just saw your message. My kid went to ICR-CCK, thus unable to comment on the Bt Timah centre.

Me too would also like to enrol my 2.5yrs old boy to ICR @ Harboutfront, however i'm concerned that he cannot sit still and will be moving about. I heard that the parent are not allowed to go into the classroom to see how their kids are doing. Quite scared that is waste of $$$ to put him there.

Dear mummies, any remarks of the above centre?
