Hmmm... thus the higher/demanding standards/targets for new PVs every year...
High Supply/Low Demand thingy... I think it's a fine line between value-added and exploitation. 🙂

If you are the parent volunteer, would you like to think that you are adding value to your choice of school or being exploited?

If pri1 reg success... then it's value add.
If pri1 reg fail... then it's exploit. 🙂

        Hi alng,

So Phase 2B for RGPS and SCGS is the same - guaranteed a seat. That's nice.

I am not too sure about RGPS. SCGS has just started to accept phase 2B PV so not much competition yet. I am not sure for subsequent years.

So SCGS only started taking PV this year for Yr2006 kids? Then wasted for those parents in earlier year. Don't remember seeing SCGS balloting history in the forum... is there one?

SCGS former principal did not accept phase 2B PV in the past. They may have a few phase 2B PV on and off in the past years but I do not remember SCGS having to ballot at phase 2B over the last few years. For Yr 2005 kids, there are a few PVs right now but these few will not take up all the phase 2B vacancies.

For Yr 2006 kids, SCGS has put up in its website the phase 2B PV application form inviting parents to apply. So we can expect more PVs competing with Grassroots in phase 2B in subsequent years.

Thanks... found the history stats... was surprised that it's under Tanjong Pagar GRC... duh... seems quite far apart...

              Hi jedamum,

Not every child’s results are good at lower primary. I’ve heard of some parents who feel that P1/2 is ‘honeymoon’ period, so they don’t bother much.

I wanted to transfer my son to a school with affiliated sec but it’s almost impossible given the LONG wait list for transfer…so now can only hope and pray hard he works harder to get into a good secondary school.

I jus called them and they said will check. Could have miss out!

oh great then! hopefully hear good news from you! 😎

                Hi missymorr & edrickelleon

Still waiting for their call. Will call them again tomorrow if still no response from them.

It could be that they rejected me as I'm staying > 2 km. In any case, just pray hard as I've already tried my best!

                  Hi Sotong_mum,

If school rejects your application for PV, it could be the reason that they do not want to do PVs doing for nothing, esp if there is balloting at 1-2km leaving no vacancy for those more than 2km.

Dont be too sure about RGPS yet. Although it has never balloted under 2B before, do note that the number of applicants this year under 2B was 62, which was exactly equal to the number of vacancies available for 2B. So unless they cut down their PV intake drastically, else it is quite risky for subsequent years.

You see they never ballot for those staying within 2km under 2C in previous years, yet there was balloting this year for those staying within 1km even!

Even Joe Augustin moved to the new condo beside RGPS although his daughter is already in P3. Singaporeans can afford to pay premium to get into choice schools + govt take in RICH PRs.
