      Hi Luanee

Sorry it's CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' Primary School actually. Some of we kiasu newbies like to refer it as CHIJ AMK 😄

We are none of the above and we (a few kiasu newbies living in the same area) are going to register our children for 2013... The only advantage that we have is our close distance to the schools (some are <1km to Ai Tong whereas some are close to Marymount etc) The PV for some schools has already started btw and hence our fierce kiasu-ism and worries (yes the first time is always the hardest as some people say)
Register ur children 'for' 2013 means are your kids be starting P1 in 2014? Or u mean your kids be starting P1 in 2013 which means u be registering in 2012?

In any case, do note that both St Nick and Ai Tong are extremely popular schools. You would most probably need to ballot even if u stay within 1km. Best is to consider your backup plan now.

Marymount would have a better chance as it usually still have vacancies by phase 2C (supp).

Marymount would have a better chance as it usually still have vacancies by phase 2C (supp).

Marymount this year also had to ballot for 2C (supp) - very \"oversubscriped\" by then. So, the better bet would be to get in at phase 2C for Marymount. That would not be possible if you are balloting for phase 2C for other schools.

Ai Tong is Hokkien Huay Kuan school - yearly ballot for 2B and 2C. St Nic equally hot, esp. with the new IP track. These 2 are slim chances unless you can get in before the 2B phase (that is for old boys / gals).

Since you claim to be \"fiercely kiasu\", I suggest you start looking at monitoring the registration numbers yearly, plan and \"strategise\" your \"moves\". \"Man proposes, God disposes\" - a fair bit still depends on luck!

for the matter of that article, the problem is the high population density of HDB estates, they should build more schools in the estates if the height of the HDB blocks have increased with corresponding decrease in unit size

or they should build schools up to 10 or 12 storeys high, instead or max 5 storeys, so that more schools can be build in a given estate

Yes when I said Marymount usually have places in 2C(supp), I meant chances of getting in at 2C is high.

Hope this thread is alive and kicking 🙂 ! Was reading 70 over pages of this thread last night and being a zombie now :?:

Just shifted over from Punggol (opposite Mee Toh) to Teban so I am seriously stuck at locating a school for my 2 girls.

I am highly considering Lakeside Primary School since I used to be from Yung An which is one of the merger for the school.

Would anyone know how to go about getting registered for Phase 2A1?

                        Cheerios 🙂 !
