      DEAR MATHS GURU,

      i need help in this questions (hints are given)

      1) mrs thiken is planning or a meeting.She wants to use 36 small square tablesto make 1 large table.she needs 1 chair for the sides of each small table.how hany chairs are needed for the large table?? solve a slimpler problem :?: :?: :?:
      There are different arrangments that will give different number of chairs.
      1 x 36 =>74 chairs
      2 x 18 => 40 chairs
      3 x 12 => 30 chairs
      4 x 9 => 26 chairs
      6 x 6 => 24 chairs

      There is no single answer unless u make an assumption like the one atutor2001 had stated.

        Vanilla Cake:
        beauty queen:

        Mr Samad made some toys to sell. He sold 20% of the toys on Monday. He sold 27 toys on Tuesday. On Wednesday he sold 10% of the remaining toys. After that he found out that the toys he had left was 1 more than 1/2 the number of toys he had made. How many toys did he make.

        The number of toys made by Mr Samad was 115. But on working backwards, the number of toys sold on Wednesday is in decimals! Will leave this question for others to solve.

        Thks.

        In case u need the wrking :

        Y x 80% = 0.8Y
        (0.8y - 27) X 90% = 0.72Y - 24.3
        0.72 Y - 24.3 = 0.5Y + 1
        0.72Y = 0.5Y + 25.3
        0.22Y ----- 25.3
        Y = 115
        They hvnot asked on WEdnesday.so, leave it.But as VC mentioned, it'll b in decimals.

                No of girls = 16
                No if boys = 16 - 2 = 14
                16(1u) + 14(1u + $40) = $2600
                30u = $2600 - $560
                30u = $2040
                1u = $68

                Diff = 14($108) - 16($68 ) = $424

                # Total cost = Qty x Unit Cost

                  i think an easy one?

                  Samad and Toby walked from Town A to Town B at the same time. Samad was faster than Toby by 4km/h. When Samad reached Town B in 4 hours, he immediately walked back to Town A. On the way back he met toby who was 10 km away from Town B. What was Samad’s speed

                    2)arrange 7 dots in such a way that you can draw straight lines through 6 sets of 3 dots. draw a picture :?: :?: :clubmyself: :udaman: :snooze:

                    Q1 cannot be solved unless it is stated that the large table must also form a square. If that is the case, it will be formed by 6 x 6 small tables. Number of chairs needed will be 6 x 4 = 24.

                    Q2 is to put 1 dot at reach corner of a hexagon (6-sided polygon) with 1 dot in the centre.

                    hi my friends say the ans is 24 is it true??? (question1):? :?

                        One more question mathgurus

                        I am a Sec 2 student and not a mathsguru.
                        beauty queen:

                        Assume Toby's speed be n km/h
                        Difference in speed = 4 km/h
                        Distance apart = 4x4=16 km
                        16km-10km=6km
                        6/n=10/(n+4)
                        10n=6n+24
                        4n=24
                        n=6 km/h
                        6km/h+4km/h = 10 km/h

                        Samad's speed = 10 km/h.

                        PS : Pls advise the source of this question? Is it from your child's school homework?
