I don’t know why Singapore doesn’t have the same system as HKG. HKG employers don’t have to assume as many responsibilities as us Singaporeans. If they are not dissatisfied with the maids, they just fire them…when maids get pregnant, employers don’t have to bear it.

The government is giving us the impression that maids come here to enjoy life. They have far too many rights.

Wow, I couldn't agree more with you young man. The fact is that majority of the maids are here to enjoy life.

Maids should have rights and be protected this is common sense, but our policies are too ridiculous- maybe this is why we have horrible maids- they work thinking that their employerss are, technically, almost powerless so they can do what they like! ...which is true... :stupid:

Agree! Many employers are at the mercy of these horrible maids.

                Dear All,

Can anyone advise how long a maid is allowed to stay here after expiry of work permit?

I called MOM but no answer after holding the call for 20 minutes whereas for the MOM website, i am clucless where to get the information.

Please can anyone enlighten me .

                Thanks
Foreigners are not allowed to stay in SG w/o a valid pass or visa.

The moment the WP expires, the visitor has to leave SG, unless she has a visa that allows her to stay. Or you can check with ICA.

I just loved the feeling of buying air ticket, arranging pickup and cancelling work permit. It’s such a BIG relief when the pick up driver arrives to ‘collect’ the lousy maid and send her to the airport.

In the past, whether the maid is lousy or not, employers have to send them to the airport but now we don’t have to give these lousy maids so much FACE. I would rather pay the pick up driver than driving her to the airport than face her any longer. The pickup driver usually arrives early, pick the lousy one, then check her in so that their liability is discharged.

Don’t bother to call. It’s best you drop them an email with your contact no. They will reply you within 3 days. If I am not mistaken, you can get a special stamp for 7 days extension after WP has expired but provided the maid’s passport is still valid. Again, you may email to ICA as well. Email is the most efficient and effortless way to contact any govt bodies… hotlines are just a waste of time & energy!

                      Hi all,

Is there anyway we can write in to MOM to feedback about those maids? All the terms stated are beneficial to them, not us. Can we do anything about it?

Don't bother. MOM supports MAIDS more than we employers.
