I'm currently breastfeeding my #2. Partial as supply is not enough. As with #1, I did whatever I could including latching and feeding on demand. No use. Don't have means don't have. Tried all recommended herb, milk tea, more milk tincture. All don't work. 😒

Sometimes feel very stressed, sometimes a bit 'sian'. Very tempted to quit, especially when MIL kept suggesting this. But tell myself, partial is still better than no milk, so kept going. 😞 Just wished I have enough milk.
Don't stress out.
Jiayou.
You're doing the best thing for your baby.
Get more rest, drink milk, eat well. No need to be expensive food. Regular food like steamed fish, chicken, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Things that you think you will like your baby to enjoy when it grows up. As the taste of the food you eat will go into your breastmilk.
Never let anyone tell you how to rear your child, much less your MIL.
You are the mother and you know best, even if sometimes you struggle with the task e.g. breastfeeding or lack of milk.
In the long run, when your child grows up, you can see the fruits of your labor, there is no need to be frustrated.
:hugs:
So happy to find this thread. I have been breastfeeding non-stop for last 10 years. Still bfg ds who is 5 yo now. Yes! Breastmilk is the BEST!

10 yrs :!: :!: btw if ur DS is oredi 5 yrs doesnt u or him feel odd if he want in any public place..

He does not request for bfg in public places since long time ago. In fact, bfg is now restricted to bedroom activities. :-)
You are a great Mom :celebrate:

Hi pea_nut

I am also currently BF my no. 4 for just over 2 yrs now. DH kept asking me when am I stopping, I said \"don't know\" cos' it is really so convenient now esp in the mornings can just feed \"in a daze\" and nite when she will happily sleep after a feed.

:celebrate: I'm also currently breastfeeding my no.4 who is 2+yrs old. Had breastfed elder ones for 2 to 3 years each.

Yet another great Mom.

Why must drink milk too? Quite yucks, leh. I don't drink milk. Just eat normally and breastfeed on demand.

Not must la. Just another suggestion someone else gave me, which
worked for me though i already had enuf milk. DD1 had latching probs
as she was in the infant ICU for 2 weeks. I was already super worried 4
her due to her extreme jaundice condition.. 😞 I also had MIL bark on me
each time for bfg-ing her... she said a lotta stuff. One of which was that i
had stale milk ie. in reference to the colostrum. I had little milk during tt
time, plus the stress... haaiyaah.. very trying experience. So, i read up
more and consulted the paed as well as the breastfeeding consultant at
the hospital. While i did have to feed her formulae to avoid making her
hungry, i still resumed efforts trying to breastfeed her as well. I didn't
feel like eating much (mebbe from the stress) so i was told by a sweet
someone at least drink Milo or milk (any flavour) so that i at least had
something tt filled up my tum... & to continue expressing. But this sweet
someone told me, \"When you're feeling more positive... just remember..
do eat.. if not for yourself.. eat for your baby... eat so that your baby will
eat (drink the bf from me) too.\" It was my first baby & first time nursing...
So i suppose all i needed was actually a boost of support. All that feeling
down and depressing episodes didn't help at all. I bonded more after i got
to bring her home (to my parents' plc) and had less drop-ins from MIL, &
that was when i had the freedom to explore this first time experience till i
succeeded. DD1 soon became baby michelin or baby marshmallow. πŸ˜‰

Note of irony : MIL breastfed ALL her boys. The last one till like 6 or 7yrs old.
She's sooo mean hor.. 😞
phankao:
Yamsui - may I ask how you determine that you have \"not enuf milk\"? Is it because you pump and nothing much comes out?
This happened to me as well. During expression, very little came out and
mostly during the first few days only the colostrum bit. Yellowish... ie. MIL's
reference to my milk being stale.

But from my read-ups, i kept it anyways and when DD1 drank better,
i gave it to her. I always ensure i did my warm compress and massage
each breast before i began expressing... it gives a good let-down... at
least for me.

MIL would ask me this.
I would answer with a GLARE :x
It's utter rubbish.
Children will have and go through many bouts of colds and coughs.
Blah!
It's part and parcel of growing up and building their immunity.
Breast is best.
Anyone who tries to argue otherwise is a moron.
