Integrated Programme (IP)

Thanks daisyt and Jennifer for sharing !
@ Jennifer, I was told that if the child pass HMT O level exams (i.e. D7 and above) ie, should be your Year 4, he does not need to offer MT in A levels (year 6). That means one subject less in A levels curriculum. This is the info obtained from my elder sonβs admission to VJC IP next yr.
So you may want to encourage yr boy to persist on to complete HMT.
Both my sons sadly do not take HMT (Chinese) right now. So, it will be equally challenging for my younger son if he chooses to do HMT in IP. -

Exactly the motivation for him to tough it out@ Jennifer, I was told that if the child pass HMT O level exams (i.e. D7 and above) ie, should be your Year 4, he does not need to offer MT in A levels (year 6). But I wld still like him to continue attending the tuition even if he does not take the subject anymore. Better to be in the loop than forget it, always will come in handy. -

Jennifer, i heard that the current year 4s have to take HMT O-level. I'm not sure what our children would need to do at year 4?

hi kiasimum,
Thanks Augmum for the info !
Anyone know if it is difficult to transit from pri school MT to HMT (Chinese) in IP ? If my DS now gets , say around marks 60 to 69 range in pri school for MT Chinese, would it pose a challenge for him to handle HMT in an IP school ?
Also, does IP school beef up those students who does MT (Chinese) in pri school, by giving them extra coaching to catch with their peers who originally has been doing HMT (Higher Chinese) ?
Thanks in advance.
u're welcome
as for my gal's sch (DHS), there is no special or extra class for pupils who does not take HMT in their pri sch.
though the pupil can approach the teacher for extra help or coaching....(they are very willing to help)
not to frighten u, SAP IP HMT is tough
their teachers' expectations are high and their grading is strict.
although my gal's PSLE HMT got a distinction for it
but over in DHS, her HMT grade is the one which is pulling her overall GPA down.
and she often spends a substantial amt of time in doing HMT homework....
frankly, i can see that she dun enjoy her HMT in DHS

Augmum:
Wow, the standard of HCL at DHS is really high. I wonder if it's that tough at HCI/NYGH too.

Naturally in SAP schools, the HCL standard is high lor, if not, why bother to be SAP right?
Augmum, my girl enjoys HCL lessons but not Chinese literature and I am very glad, so far, she is doing well for HCL. Same same, Chinese homework is one of the very time consuming one. I am still trying very hard to cultivate her interest in Chinese literature.

Oh dear, sounds really tough in DHS.. I don't think my younger son can pull through SAP IP HMT. DHS is the only IP school nearest East for next yr's admission.
Looks like have to go thru the path of Victoria again, then.. either to Victoria IP or Temasek TA. Only if the 6 year IP pgm starts 1 year earlier. Sigh. -

For year 1 and 2, its part of HCL.
Is Chinese Lit a separate subject at your dd's school? Or is it part of HCL?
For year 3 onwards, its seperate, optional.
