How was he like? How can one complaint bring about this?

May be something he could not defend ?

Get lost to reduce airing or washing dirty linens in public ? Just speculating

Or else most men would defend his honor before resigning

This is a man who is humble, kind and simple. It is so sad he has to leave the school he headed for so many years in such a manner… what a shame.

Whatever is the complain, it is probably something he does not want to deal with. That does not make him automatically guilty. You know, it’s like you have contributed so much to the school, worked your guts out and have some health issues as well. Then these stupid allegations. You just say, what the hell, I quit!

That does not make him guilty. He just is probably tired of it all, and wants a break. A break he rightly deserves.

Well, I hope things work out well for OTC. He is a good man. Whatever allegations, whatever the findings is irrelevant. What he has done for ACS over the last 16 years outweighs everything else.

It doesn't make him guilty but the immediate reaction of the public is to assume he is, unfortunately. The timing of the inquiry and resignation is also very unfortunate because it's in the middle of the boys' exams and some of them are affected by it.

I cannot imagine how he can have designs on a male teacher. :?

He is so close to his wife and they still hold hands in public. Even if there are evidences, I'd question the authenticity. Even if they are real, I'd question if they are misinterpreted.

This man could have had a more comfortable life as a lecturer and professor in a university. I saw his move to ACS as a service to God and the boys. His sacrifice is not small. I hope we'll always remember that.

The most important thing is that I hope the family stays together and strengthen each other during this time. Nothing else really matters.

TWO Anglo-Chinese School (ACS) boards are looking into a complaint by a male teacher that ACS (Independent) principal Ong Teck Chin had acted inappropriately towards him.

The teacher contacted The Straits Times last Thursday and alleged the principal had 'behaved inappropriately' towards him, and he had e-mail, text messages and recordings to prove his claims.

Asked about these allegations yesterday, Dr Ong, who resigned unexpectedly last weekend, declined to comment. 'I had told the school board that I will let them address it,' he said.

Mr Richard Seow, chairman of the ACS board of governors, confirmed in a statement yesterday that both the ACS board of governors and ACS (I)'s board of management were looking into a complaint directed at Dr Ong.

'Notwithstanding his resignation, the boards take a serious view of any complaint and are currently determining the facts of the matter,' said Mr Seow.

He did not name the complainant and did not specify the nature of the complaint. He told The Straits Times that an inquiry committee had been formed comprising members of both boards.

I find his claims very contradictory

On one hand he says he want to quit and go slow due to his health, viz heart problem

On the other hand, he says he want to go overseas to accumulate more experience…

accumulate experience ? laid back manner ? or make his heart condition goes worse ?

the resignation is too sudden and too coincidental with the complaint and inquiry, whatever is the substance of the complaint
