I just got my new Pilipino maid last month, she is a fresh maid and i need to pay $420.00 as starting salary. The levy is $170.00 (as i have children below 12 years)

Remember dun use Maid Management, maid lousy..poor service especially when comes to refund of your own money. Take months to claim!!Bad experience!! :x :stupid:

Nation Maids staff equally rude. I walked in once to enquire about getting a maid. A person just put a piece of paper with info on their 'packages' in front of me, without even looking at me and continued doing her filing :x POOR service. Can't imagine what it would be like if I had taken a maid from them and need to get a replacement.

i just got a maid fr the above mentioned maid agency, totally agreed with what your said. Super poor services. Luckly my new maid is not so bad. According to my maid, they provided training before sending her to my place.

IMHO:

1. We do not have minimum wage for our own local workers as yet, so for another country to demand for it is, to me, frivolous.

2. Taking the examples of the elderly aunties and uncles and or less educated/fortunate Singaporeans working as fastfood chains workers or cleaners: their wages are about S$300-S$350 per month and they have to pay for their own food and board, unlike maids. Fair?

3. We may strive for to be the best airport and seaport in the world but do we want: \"Respect for such a minimum wage would only further Singapore's reputation as a destination of choice for domestic helpers\" - quoting the article writer.

Moreover, their packages are on the high end.

[/quote]oh, my experiences were totally different from yours. i got my 3 maids from nation and all stayed with me for more than 2 years, the longest is 5 yrs. went to simei and bukit timah branches, staff who served me were friendly and after sales service was good.

At a time when there are many complaints of foreign workers taking away jobs from locals, still got pple wanna promote Singapore as destination of choice for foreign workers?

Just as many mummies here have reiterated. Most FDWs think they are here for vacays. They want monthly wages, free food, room, toiletries, whatnots (HPs/calling cards; special dietary/facial/bodycare needs not due to health reasons) and days off.

They should count themselves lucky to even have a job with free food and room, no need to worry about sleeping on the streets or going hungry.

Their home country do not even advocate minimum wage for their countrymen. Irony?

Hi Duriz,

Demanding for HIGH pay for Filipino women working overseas when back home, they are not even earning half as much ? It’s such a high price to pay for these Filipino maids…have to vomit blood teaching them to do housework. After learning how to cook some simple local dishes, these maids think they can FLY and can work in HKG or Taiwan.

I hope something can be done to prevent Singaporean employers from being the stepping stone for these women.
